With the CSLs on I have the choice of selling the 224s & tyres or getting some track tyres and having them as my track set. Yes they pretty heavy, but getting something like Arc-8s will be a next year project.

I am looking for some 888s that will fit the 224s. Stock on 224s is 225/45/18 and 255/40/18 of course. I am thinking of running 888s 18s in

235/40/18 - Difference in diameter: -2.27%Actual diameter change: -15mm
255/35/18 - Difference in diameter: -3.78%Actual diameter change: -25mm

Is this a bad idea? Will they fit OK?

I have the same plan! I have now 235/40-18 and 265/35-18 Pilot Sports on the 18". No rubbing etc.
Are those sizes available for 888's..?

Yea 888s are available in the sizes I listed. There is jump in price between 255/35 and 265/35, over 50 quid a tyre. Not massive but all adds up.
Looks like these will fit then from what you are saying.

Be careful with the width of R888s - those on my Westy are wider than normal road tyres in the same sizes.
I'm running 225mm front, 255mm rear Nankang NS-2R semi slicks on my ///M. Were they any wider, I would have serious rubbing issues with my suspension setup.
