7cm hailstones-did i hear right?

Hi all,i know across the country we have had floods,sandy rain and tornadoes but did i hear correct on the radio today(had earmuffs on at the time)-that somewhere had 7cm hail?-that would make some serious mess to a cars metal

I went to collect my re-furbed Alloys from the body shop this afternoon, they said they had spent almost all day taking calls from people trying get a quote for roof and bonnets damaged by the hail.

Dropped the wifes car off for repair in Sleaford today - they have a number of cars in for repair that suffered dents 'the size of a golfball' all over... seems like it happened around Sleaford/Cranwell area...

yet another reason to get a soft-top :wink:

A regular thing in America. Last time i was in Texas I saw a car that had suffered. It looked like someone had worked it over with a hammer!

I suffered this in France 3-4 years ago.....it was only a kilometre wide but cut a path across the landscape like a bulldozer, and my house and car were right in the middle of it.

I lost all my Velux windows but was lucky with the car as I dived outside to move it into a barn just as it was getting serious and it was like being physically stoned! We picked some up afterwards and bearing in mind it was midsummer and they'd already started to melt, they were still slightly bigger than golfballs.

Being France, the local MP(who happens to live near us when not living it up in his gaff in the Champs Elysees) had taken delivery two days previously of a brand-new people carrier which he left out in the storm - every panel was trashed. Not only did the cheeky sod take it back to the dealers demanding they swap it, but they did!!

A few years back driving in New England got caught in a thunderstorm on the freeway, never seen anything like the amount of rain that fell, like a sheet of water.

Eek! That's a bit close to home. I was working down south in Bournemouth so the Z was with me, but three m3 was sat on the drive :/
