I would spend some time & money on playing with wheels + tyres before cutting loose :?
I recently ran my E85 Se on E89 19inch alloys(Pirelli Runflats) & the noise was noticeable as soon as i breached 30mph

Ride was obviously harsher as was a slight twitchiness through the steering over 75
As soon as i switched back to the 18inch with Conti rears / Michelin fronts normal service was resumed 8)
 
I had an ///M roadster before trading it in for a new E89. I too was disappointed with the noise levels from the tyres and cabin including a rattle from the roof area when I first got it. To be honest it is a different beast to my old ///M, heavier, noisy and more a tourer. That said, the E89 is also better in other ways, I ditched the run flats and fitted standard tyres immediately and wow what a difference that made and I too had no issues with the warranty or the dealer.

Those wheels do look nice … (imo much nicer than the M6 reps ….)

Sorry to hear you are having regrets.

It sounds like you are right to though. A brand new car shouldn't rattle and should be designed to eliminate excessive road noise!

Don't chop the car in. If you aren't happy with it return it to the dealer and get your money back. It's not good enough that a new car should already have rattles. If the dealers / BMW are always allowed to get away with providing a sub-standard product they will continue to do it.

Go and get your money back.

Don't like the rft's on mine either ! Tried to get them changed when specing the car,without success. Will change them to Michelin pss asap. Must say I don't think mine are as bad as yours sound. But Scottish roads are shite too !
 
Before you think of chopping the car in, I would go back to the dealer and ask to borrow another one - take it on the same road and see if you get the same problem.

I have had a couple of car + road combos in the past which have produced terrifying noises on certain bits of road - just a combination of wheel/tyre/road/body size etc... I guess.
 
If you want James I can pop down some time with the MC and we can compare road noise - the MC is a damn hard riding car but it has 18" non runflats. Not apples-to-apples, but worth trying?

Depending on the road a boxster may not actually be any better - I found them louder with the roof up than down
 
As Stark has already stated, I changed the runflats to Michelin PSS as soon as I bought his car a few months ago.
Ride and comfort was transformed straight away and also the fear of cracking a 19" alloy on the shite North London roads has lessened.

Really sounds like this is spoiling your experience of the car and looks like you don't have many options with BMW not allowing you to change the tyres under warranty.

Don't know if the runflats soften up a bit after a few thousand miles? Would presume not.

Sorry to hear of your predicament but there are loads of peeps on here still running runflats so maybe you need time to get used to them.

I probably wouldn't have changed my tyres until worn but knowing how ditching the runflats transformed my E85 and the worry of cracked alloys made my decision all the easier.

Yes going to change them shortly. Will keep the rft's with some rubber left incase I need some warranty claimes. Spoke to the dealer with my intentions & they are fine with it. Replaced all the rft's on my last few bm's. Transforms them. Only thing that really annoys me about them. Safety feature they say. :headbang:
Wife's car has 20's Dunlop rft's & they are ok compared to the Bridgestones.
