There's a video on slk world of the new z4 lapping the full lap in 7.55 , looks pretty good to me . You'll have to search it yourselves as punishment for not seeing it before Mercedes owners :lol:

Good time, but is this the US spec (380hp) or the euro spec?

but you cant actually get an M2 any longer only the competion version , I want to like the Z4 but im still struggling with those looks

Sure but the z4 m40i has the b58 engine, which is a replacement for the n55 (the engine in the old M2), not a replacement for the S55 (m4/new m2).
And that the new z4 manages to set a quicker laptime with a downtuned b58 (compared to the n55 from the M2) is a testimony to a decent allround setup I think.

Still I think the new z4 needs more power to tackle the competition. BMW used to set the bar where it comes to specific power outputs of engines, but those days have long gone now (for petrol engines at least)
 
It probably has better aerodynamics, being a coupe.
On the nordschleife that can make a big difference with its long high speed sections.

For making the Coupe, having passive dampers and wanting a manual gearbox. :thumbsup:
