6K a good deal?

Need help!!

Been offered a 2008 2.0 E85 and need some advice on if it's a good deal or not.

So, the car is my old mans. He bought from one of the sales team at the bmw garage in 2008. 4 months old with 4k on the clock. It's been garaged ever since - now at 31k miles. Absolutely mint, maintained with no expense spared, it's black with the M sport pack and red leather interior.

He's been offered 7,500 to trade in so has given me a f&f discount.

I'm torn as I know the 4 pot 2.0 isn't a desirable option and there's plenty of cars I could get instead at 6k but I don't think there will be many in this condition out there.

Any thoughts welcome!

The question you can only answer is can you keep it in the condition its been kept?

Will it be garaged and only used at weekends when its dry etc ......

If its going to be a daily runner and you'll put 10k-15k on it a year then my advice would be to get a £4k-£6k 3 litre which won't lose as much by being used.

That 2 litre is a £7.5k car because its mint. Ask your dad if he would take the £7.5k but then give you £1500 towards another 3 or 2.5 litre?

Or buy it from your dad and (if he doesn’t mind) sell it yourself and buy a decent 6-cyl. There may even be someone out there who will swap. Personally I think 7.5k for trade in is a good deal for your Dad, whereas the opportunity to acquire for 6k seems like a good deal for you. Make sure it really is in good nick though, as no-one is keen on a tatty two litre.

Thanks - I had considered that, but if I let this car go I'd probably look at something else. Part of the draw is the condition and the history of the car. I would probably use it dry weekend yes, and keep it covered otherwise - I have driven it and given it a boot and it does shift. I'm used to driving a minivan so the power isn't an issue for me to be totally honest.

Personally I've always been into MK1 audi tt's and the 1.8t can be molded so easily. 6k would buy me a he'll of a TT

Are you from the States?

What is the going rate for an average mileage and average condition 2008 2 litre Z4 over there?

Tell your dad to trade it in for his £7.5k, keep the £6k and give you the £1.5k towards a straight six model.

I think that sums it up nicely. I wouldn't want to pay £7K for a 2 litre Z4, so if your dad can get £7.5K for it let him!

While I wouldn't want a 4 pot, maybe the ops dad wants the car to stay in the family - he seems to have loved and cherished the car so wants the op to do the same.

Google ‘N43 issues’ before you give anyone an money for any car with one fitted in it! :!:

N46

Didn’t realise that… ironically the N46 is even more problematic, which I thought was almost impossible
