£60 for clip in phone holder!!!!!!!!

Just phoned the dealer to get a price for a clip in holder for my Nokia, I was told it would cost £60 so have decided against it. Seems a bit steep to just charge my phone up which I will rarely need.
 
Trouble is BMW have to engineer each snap in to a specific phone .........and then the phone changes .......probably very short runs =expensive
That may explain why the iPhone snapin is £49 probably expectation of greater sales volumes .The lead time for a snapin for the iPhone is 5/6 months

on my previous 3 series i purchased the cradle with the car, 12 months later changed phone and cradle £55. 12 months later changed phone again and lived without the cradle. I used the unsightly but cheaper car charger from the phone manufacturer.
It is a pain the price they charge for these things and i have to say, but agree with wegras as to why.

Although the dealership claim the reception is better with the phone in the cradle, i can't honestly say i've noticed that. When i got the Z4 i did go for the cradle on the hope that the iphone would stay the right shape for some time. Now the iphone 4 is out i think that is a slightly different shape from my 3gs but i may be wrong.
 
I have bought 4 over the years as well, but I really like the charging / better reception etc when using the cradle though.

Certainly is, the iP4 snap in is due December :roll:
Can't really blame BMW for that
