I wouldn't rule out a 630i with the N52 that seems to be pretty bulletproof based on the experiences of Z4 owners who have one.
The N53 does seem prone to injector and High Pressure Fuel Pump issues.
Anyway good luck finding the right one.

Thanks for the reply, it's mainly because of the road tax. I think the N52 in the 6 is £760 to tax and the N53 is ~£400. All of the N52's I've seen online have the silver engine cover too which is the older version I believe.
I read as long as they've had the HPFP done they should be good and I'll budget for having it done again.
I'd love a 640i GC but that's a little over my budget for now!

6ers in any guise offer so much motoring for very fair money though bitter experience i learnt earlier ones can be majorly problematic so be prepared for some unexpected bills .
Currently have a 640d & a 620Gt , unless it was to buy a 840Gc or 840 coupe i wouldn't sell either of them.
