6 or 4

I had a 123d for over 6 years before I bought my first Z4C - what was I thinking when I bought that? :headbang:

I got a cheap Mazda 323f 1.5 litre as a daily for cheap RFL and economy, but after 6 months had to sell it as it was so gutless!

So with my sensible head on I bought an E46 325ti as a daily so I could have straight 6 petrol power all the time.

OK so the OBC on the 123d showed an average of 48.7 mpg, but my Z4C is showing 33.2 mpg and my 325ti is on 34.9 mpg so petrol is hardly a disaster!

You won't be surprised if I say 6 is the only way to go IMHO. A straight 6 is one of the unique properties of a Z4. 8)

i'd much rather have a 2.0 4 pot turbo than that god awful 23i 6 pot! They are slow as fook! My mates got one a nice low miler, its alright if you wanna sit on the motorway cruising about but for a chuckable sports car its very lethargic. if it was a 35i that was on offer though it would be a no brainer - six pot all the way.

If you want a chuckable sports car why would you buy an E89?? The E89 is a cruiser, don't get me wrong the handling is alright but a Cayman would be a far better choice.

I wouldnt buy one, just saying, a z4 (FOR ME) is meant to be a back road blaster which is a thrilling driving experience - the E89 is just not. (Again, only my opinion before anyone cries!)

No crying lol

The E89 with MSPORT suspension is pants (My opinion) - I felt totally unsettled doing 90 miles an hour down Craner curves - and the amount of understeer is immense. However, for most E89 drivers, I believe the suspension is adequate - as they don't drive the car vigorously.

It was built for the USA market - as a GT and cruiser.

However....

Slap some good coil overs, change your tracking, decent tyres and you have a capable car. Admittedly not as great as a boxer - and you struggle to find the limits of the car on UK roads. I only found limitations of the E89 on track.

But been on a few drives with E85/E86 and not had an issue, with entering or exiting a corner.

I wish you all the best - as I understand this is right on the limits.

As testing was completed - and conrods and pistons broke at 400lbs
