So I want to add second CA keys to my E89 and F30. Here’s what I learned:
  1. Dealer quote starts at $550 for each, likly ends at $666 after “fees.”
  2. Dealer ETA = 2 weeks. Locksmith ETA = 20 minutes, but starting at $450, just to show up.
  3. Dealer insists on “new genuine OEM.” My car doesn’t know or care.
  4. Locksmith Programming fee = $450++ to push buttons on an Autel designed to the work, 30 min or less
  5. Do I try a $60 eBay fob.? Brick the car? Pay for a tow? Dealer shame?
  6. Dealer offers free espresso while quoting $$$. Espresso was the only free part. :coffee:
👁️BMW doesn’t build cars, they build financial torture devices

Really makes me just want to buy the locksmith kit myself and resell it afterwards.
