So much want...

This is the next car on my list after the zed. I can't believe how cheap they are now considering the power they can deliver. Granted 19mpg isn't great but that soundtrack,

If you ever get one, get it with BMW warranty. Guy from another forum had a £28k bill after engine went pop ;(

Ooh that looks fantastic, and the sound of those V10s is car porn!

But do I need an estate? No, but who cares! Ah, now it has all gone wrong, I couldn't find enough cash down the back of the sofa - even included checking the car seats I'm probably £17,994.67 short.

I can believe that. £10k seems to be the recommended "rainy day fund" for non-warrantied examples.

The e60 is the only M5 that I WOULDN'T consider buying. I'd happily have a high miler of any other M5 over the e60. In fact the e60 M5 was available when I bought the Z4M, and I didn't even look for them in the classifieds.

Too much new technology went into it to be a reliable mileage muncher - and as these cars cost a lot to run on even short trips, it makes it prohibitively expensive as a daily driver. I never really gelled with the ones I tried as they felt 'remote'. It was VERY quick in a straight line, but I wouldn't feel comfortable throwing it around Welsh roads like I did the e34s/e39s.

It's a thirsty bugger (18mpg combined) - even when compared to other generations (e34 was 26mpg combined) (but obviously not so much when you consider the power/weight increase).

If I had 10-20k for an M5, then it'd be a difficuly choice between an e34 or e39 M5 - as I'd probably get a lower mileage e39 for the same price a higher mileage e34.

This is an E61 though. Rational thought is entirely inappropriate. :P
It was an e61 M5T that I last drove - at 170mph - during a group test & photoshoot with the last generation M5T :P

Old vs New (I prefer the look of the old):

Mate of mine had the saloon, second owner, gearbox and a bunch of drive train stuff towards the rear went (can't remember exactly what, was a while back) - £21k bill. Fortunately covered under warranty. I do love the look of the tourer though, especially in blue.
