As my 50th Birthday is coming up on Sunday !!!!! arghhhhh no !! where did those 50 years go !
My brother decided that a boys treat was in order so last week he flew us both out to Munich to the BMW factory !
Before the fun began on arrival the building its self is an awesome design (typical German engineering)

The other building is the four cylinder building this houses the offices and design studios

The trip was in three main parts:-
BMW World
BMW Museum
BMW Factory/ Plant
BMW World:- This was fun.... showed the new cars that are currently in the line up and included a Rolls Royce and Mini exhibition - the i8 was most impressive

BMW Museum:- As you would expect superbly detailed in everyway and of course the beautiful 507 was the star of the show for me, the museum has a great restaurant for lunch as well !

and of course Elvis Presley's 507 (might be the king of rock and roll but what was he thinking of letting his car get in this state !!)

BMW Factory/Plant Tour:- OMG.... unbelievable... we were lucky to get on this as you cannot book so its first come first served and with only 20 places am and 20 places pm its a bit of a lottery !
The Plant is awesome everything precision built spotlessly clean environmentally friendly and just an unbelievable experience to see how our beloved BMW's are made (sadly the Z4's aren't made in Munich) The attention to detail is beyond belief and with "emu feathers" to brush the bodywork just prior to painting to remove any dust particles I was blown away ! Sadly no pictures as you are not allowed cameras in the plant (that's ok). The plant was in full swing making the 3 series saloon and touring and the 4 series coupe - making 950 cars per day 4 days a week !! and taking approximately 40 hours to build each car from scratch - very impressive a real eye opening experience.
In summary a fantastic trip I would highly recommend to anyone not just BMW lovers ! and this was my first trip to Germany - some of the nicest people I have ever met beautifully clean and everything runs on time ! an absolute must for petrol heads.
Get your passports out !
