Soon we'll all set off for the long sad trip home after thre brilliant days driving, eating and banter.

What a great way to start the day. 8) :D :driving: Sun's hopefuly coming out in the SW later Alan. You can aim for the setting globe of warmth in the sky and remember a great road trip. Have a safe trip home guys.

Yes, that does photograph best. Almost the only colour in a black and white picture.

Goodbye's have been exchanged :( & the lads are all homeward bound now with No5+Taz heading for Cherbourg & srhutch+Lynchy to Dieppe
Such a gorgeous morning here today we were having our breaky around 10am when it seemed rude not to grab another hour on the open roads where once again we managed to reach about 85

That would be 85 km/h obviously

I think the limit in parts of France is 85mph? Pastry tells me you can get away with 140mph with uk plates, but I think he's bluffing
Rob

A couple more whilst waiting for the ferry. Just having a spot of lunch with Ed.

Thanks again to Mr Wilks for another great weekend, and the guys for being great company.

Its 130 kph on the motorway in dry weather (110kph in wet) so about 80mph. I have no idea where you heard the other bit from Rob but couldnt have been me

Hmmm. I don't think we could possibly comment on that but none of us got stopped.
We obviously all set our limiters to 85 on day one just as a precaution

Taz,
Time & Tide wait for no man..

One for the Zeds from above thread though.

Well what can I say , thank you Andy for inviting me along . I can't begin to say what a fantastic 4 days I've had .
I don't think I'll ever have such a great driving experience again, unless I get an invite next year of course
Not only that but spending time with such a great bunch of guys added to the whole experience . Everything was very relaxed once the driving was finished for the day. Andy would cook for us with a little help from Alan and for those that know me well I love my food so that was a massive bonus for me. Once dinner was out of the way we would sit around the log burner having a couple of drinks chatting and swapping stories . I can't thank Andy enough who I've only met once before but now regard as a mate and for looking after me. I can say the same about all the guys, Alan for making me great porridge and milky coffee , Pete for being my drinking partner and Steve for getting me there and back safely. The whole experience was fantastic and one which I would love to be a part of again .

Bloody hell Alan, that's a small boat, no wonder Taz didn't want to chance it
Looks like you guys had a great time over there and hope you all survived unscathed.

Indeed. I thought we were spoilt last year and it would be hard to match, but we certainly managed it again this year. The roads, the weather, the people and the cars were all perfect.

Taz and I set off for Cherbourg about lunchtime and still had a fantastic spirited 70+ mile drive North, taking in a few of Andy's recomendations on the way. here are a few more pics of the final day:

The additional 'encore' drive out on Sunday morning:

Please excuse the "off car" theme to this post but Normandy really is a beautiful area of France. It's just so quiet and sleepy and no-body is in a rush. The sun has always shone for us whenever we've been over there and it just gives you that appreciation of life, especially when the area saw so much horror not very long a go.

Taz and I stopped off to pay our respects to those who fell and paid the ultimate cost, fighting over what we are now left to enjoy.

And far too many plaques for unknown soldiers

Thank you Mr Wilks for the recommendation. Well worth the visit.

And back on track, a last picture of the two dirty, tired cars with 500 French miles under their belt, whilst we were killing time in Cherbourg McDonalds before boarding the ferry.
