5 Series E60

So, with a 2 year old and twins on the way, I need to get something with 5 doors and a lot more space. Not very much takes my fancy apart from the 5 Series, so does anyone have any opinions / experience with them ?

I am looking for a 525i or 530i petrol (don't do enough miles to justify a diesel and want to keep away from the timing issues on the 520D). Probably around £9-10K and preferably with the sport auto box.

Thanks

Nice cars.

What age of car are you looking at?

The 6 cyl diesel models 525, 530 and 535 are very good indeed.

I'll be selling my 535D soon, as I start a new job in a few weeks' time and am not allowed a car over 100k miles. Really annoying, as I 've had it for three years and only just gone over the 100k mark. Brilliant car (very high spec), and would ideally like to keep it for another 100k.

But I'd be looking for a bit more than £10k. PM me if you're interested.

Great cars , the petrol,s will always feel sluggish in comparison to the diesel due to lack of turbo .
They are a big heavy lump of metal with similar engine to your much lighter Z so don,t expect the same performance .
Being brutally honest i much prefer our 2.0TDI A6 Avant to the 520d E61 we had , both look great but from behind the wheel the Audi is a much better car for comparably less £££ ?
Sport spec ones do ride extremely harsh i found but depends what you are after

I have my eye on a couple of Autotrader at the moment. Both at £9K and both 2009, one at 40k miles and the other at 80k miles. They do seem cheap but my brother in law knows one of the traders and says he is OK.

I'd really rather avoid diesel as my daily drives are very short and will probably do less than 7k per year total.
