5 Days, 6 Cylinders, Wales Write up:

So, about this time of year I normally head off to the Lake district for a short break and come back with a mini write up. This year, I decided to give Wales a go, and apart from my lack of car related pictures I thoroughly enjoyed it, excuse the few poor quality shots, some are nicked off a phone.

The car, as usual, performed faultlessly. On the way home I even managed an average of 40.5 MPG! This was the last trip out on the winters, summers should go on one evening this week all being well.

We did find some cracking roads, but due to being a bit miserable weather wise I wasn't exactly inspired to jump out and take photos along the way as per usual. This time, rather than a set of lodges, or a flat in the bottom of a converted mill, we stayed in a converted barn in the middle of nowhere, totally secluded. Lovely (if not a bit un-nerving at night).

Anyway, enough chat, some pics:

We arrived Monday mid afternoon, car stuffed full of the usual:

Massively impressed with the place inside, although huge for just two of us:

Although this time we did bring along an extra, the guard dog :o

To give you an idea of how isolated it was, this was the view from two windows:

So, with their being a lot of castles in Wales, it seemed the done thing to go see at least one or two, we even took the dog:

Found a nice parking space too, would be a cracking place for a photoshoot with a load of cars lined up properly:

A couple of days in we went off into the Brecon Beacons, some cracking roads later and we were walking up a mountain path:

Can just about see the car in this one:

Even had a (very bad) go at a waterfall shot:

And of course, the dog came too. Not sure she enjoyed the "fun roads" :race:but she certainly like the water.

After much walking and driving, both the dog and I were 100% out of puff by the time we got to the pub:

Anyway, not as car focused as usual, but for those considering a nice break in wales, it's closer (for us SE lot) than the Lakes, but IMO, pretty much just as good.

Looks like a lovely place, never really ventured to wales before.

Why aren't your 224s back on yet?

When its on your door step you forget how nice it is Raglan castle is a regular drive out for me only 45 miles form home , and the A470 is a great road over the Brecon Beacons

try the B4558 and B4560 around Crickhowell as well if you are that side of the Brecons. and A4061 and A4107 if further south :driving:

Very inspirational.

Looks a nice place. We are heading to wales next week. Presume the barn is a rental. It looks nice. Please could I have the details?

Absolutely gorgeous scenery, you've definitely planted the idea in my head

Thanks, as I said, we normally head right up to the Lake District, but this time having the dog, we thought we'd go for the shorter drive. Was really impressed with it there.
