Hi all

Have just returned from the Nurburgring for my first trip in the Z4 and with newly fitted Vredsteins.

Journey down was in some of the worst rain I've driven in, with the last 50 ish miles on some excellent twisty roads. The tyres were fautless, not a squirm or slide anywhere :thumbsup: And with great feel and feedback.

The Nurburgring was wet/drying over the 4 laps I did, and although I'm not remotely close to being the quickest around there, I do know the track well and do get a move on and the tyres were again superb :thumbsup:, loads of grip and very stable under braking.

The best test though came in the 20 minute session on the GP circuit, where I was really impressed with the levels of grip, through hairpins and fast corners alike.

Good stuff. Would you say the sidewalls are stiff? My fronts are due soon so considering my options.

Also: Howcome you got to drive on the GP circuit, was it a track dayn or an extended tourist session?

Stiff, yes........but not remotely close to the rigidity of the RFTs. The Vreds don't bang & crash about off of bumps and potholes like the previous RFTs, they feel as if they allow the suspension to get fully on with it's job rather then placing an almost solid object between the suspension and the road.

The GP Circuit is now open frequently (numerous times per week) and usually when the NS is closed and as added incentive to draw income to the region and the new complex. 30 euros for 20 mins and in our group I reckon 25 cars max :thumbsup:
 
The verdstn ultracs are a very good tyre. had mine on for over 9000 mls now,and still wearing very well. i reckon the rears have 5-6k mls left and the fronts another 9k mls,as oppose to the bridgestone rft's doing just 10-12k rear and 14-15k front :-)

They are far better in the wet than any other brand i have ever tried/used :thumbsup:

The 'ring would take a few mls off them though :D
 
been raving about the vreds for 4years.. excellent tyre particularly in the wet - have been through quite a few sets :driving: :thumbsup:
 
Good to hear all this praise for them as i swapped over to them last month... And with these being only £50 less then Eagle F1's - for all 4 which i have always been a fan off - and are a better known brand; it seems i made the right choice :thumbsup:

My original bridgetones had over 17k when i swapped them over... the reas were still not to the wear indicators and the fronts have a good 5mm left so be good to see how long these last with - with them being a softer compound.
 
I've also recently switched over to the Vreds from the Bridgestone RFTs -- a very noticeable difference after a couple hundred rather spirited miles. They definitely improve the ride comfort, as the local B roads are no longer making my teeth chatter, and tramlining has all but disappeared. The one downside is that I have noticed more sway in the corners due the softer sidewalls, I mean at easy speeds they are completely fine, but as you start to push more to the limit you can feel a bit more roll than on the RFTs. Overall though an improvement for sure, and for less than half the price, a no-brainer.
 
Yeah, I was actually thinking that I need to check the pressures anyways -- does anyone know the ideal pressure for these? **nevermind, found this info via a search!

Apparently Front- 33, Rear-36 psi.
 
ultrac sessantas for the win. Quieter ride, comfier ride, no tramlining, decent wear, *amazing* water shedding.

Took them round spa-francorchamps in the summer and although a tiny bit 'sway-y' or wallow-y they really grip. you just have to have a bit of faith.

reminds me of the same feel as the toyo t1-R I run on my mk2 golf
 
The Vredestein website seems to indicate 45Front & 42 Rear for 18" Sessanta's on a 3.0l - That seems very high I know but they also quote high pressures for my Disco 3 as well. I have always run mine at the Manufacturers rec. pressures without a problem

I also use them on my wife's Quattro and they are 41 Front and rear!

My first choice rubber. :thumbsup:
