Are the 108's genuine BMW?

How would I check?

I believe them to be - they were purchased as genuine BMW from another forum member, they've never been on my car as stated in the original post. They're actually made for BMW by a company called BBS anyway.

I honestly wouldn't know lol :P

I've got a rim split now, which plently of stamps on the inside. But they need to be split before seeing it!

Anyone care to wade in?

I'm also only after the fronts, if that would be of interest.

I'm not aware of there being fake 108's existing. Most fake split rims seem to be one piece anyway so easy to spot.

Ahh I don't think fakes are an issue to be honest, have never heard of any forum members having issues with fake wheels so I'm sure it's not a worry :)

I don't really want to split them (ie: fronts/rears sold seperately(, I'm going to be leaving the country and would rather just get them all sold together - I think I'm going to take them in to be refurbished, have them done up nice and shiny and then offer them for sale for a bit more cash.

As far as I can tell the cost of refurbing is going to be about 240quid max and they sell for 500+ when refurbed nicely. Nobody seems to be wanting to offer me even close to £260 quid for them at the moment so it seems the safer option :)

Silver sparkle on the stars and powder coated silver on the outers then whack them back up for sale :)

they are not worth £260 in the state they are now

Exactly, nobody wants the hassle of having them refurbed, so I think I'll do it myself and flog them when they're shiny :)

It's easily worth me driving to a wheel place and chucking them 60quid a wheel to make them shiny to take an extra 100quid off someone, so that's what I'll do :)

160-200 at the state they are in

60x4 =240 for refurbing (I think it will be much more as they have to indivisually remove a lot of bolts with possible seizure).

Total 440.

Possibly sell for 440-560 without tyres.

Is it really worth the hassle?

Agreed, you can pay £60.00 for a simple repair, those need completely stripping and recoating with a full bolt removal to boot.

I'm still happy to take them but it would be a low offer.

Andi.

There are 2 styles of 108. I had a set identicle to bbs. A company were competing with bbs to go to BMW with, exactly the same style etc just a number 20 on the front instead of 8 :|

Anyhow no you are right £260 is way to much for these, it will take a long time getting the bolts out and the ones that are snapped even harder!

A lot of time and money needs to be spent on these, £150 is probably the max I would go to

I am up for them at £150 - it's what they are worth in that condition. If you snapped one bolt there will probably be more, and the proper BBS bolts are CRAZY money. You are on for £500 for a proper split down refurb!! Try getting a quote from http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk - they do a proper oem spec split rim refurb, just make sure you are sitting down for the price!
