yeah thats what i thought :thumbsdown: only been done twice 33 and 34 ! but a work mate got clocked 86 in a 30 ! outside a primary school and still only got a sp 30 3 points and £60 fine thre is no rhyme or reason to it :thumbsdown:

I am sure they try it on, so they slap you with a speeding ticket hoping that you will pay.
Three years ago I got flashed in Birmingham doing 58 in a 40, thought I was in a 60 on a duel carriage way and had set my cruise to 60, so I was well shocked and annoyed to get the double flash. Turned around and re-did the route and low and behold the 40 sign was obscured by an overgrown tree, with the speed camera 50 metres further down, yes even more annoyed so took pictures and waited for the ticket to arrive.
Got a fixed penalty and the £60 quid fine, so I wrote back and complained sending the pictures, nothing happened for two months, then received another letter saying that this was my last chance to cop it and take the fine or go to court, so I did nothing hoping for my day in court and have never heard anything from them since.
I am sure that they rely on you coping the plea, 32 in a 30 is absolutely ludicrous, there has to be some tolerance to account for speedometer error and calibration of the test equipment

guess i just have to wait for the dreaded letter in the post ! do they tell you in the letter what the fine/points are ? or do you have to go to court ? 
dont worry this isnt crime of the century, all the details are in the friendly letter you get through the post. i got caught in the wifes car once, then had to send the letter back saying who was driving, then they had to resend it back, then i had to send it back with my details on, it dragged out especially when i waited right upto the limit of the 28 days to send it back anf fourth.....

and interestingly ....... in Northamptonshire there are no speed camera checks on motorways and if you do see a camera in the county, it has film in it. :lol:

they have to inform you within 7 days or as i understand it you can wiggle off it on a technicality !

Don't get me wrong i do not advocate speeding, but I'd do what you have the ability to do under your rights.... ask the police to provide evidence /proof of said crime and say / do nothing until it is provided to you.
FYI- the simple fact is that numerous Pol.forces do not have the time nor the inclination to deal with a lot of traffic offences if there is an objection from the start, especially if it is to go to court and their "proof" is limited, doesn't exist or comes from a system that is not calibrated according to recommendations. I do not advocate exploiting weaknesses in the law, however - for example, if you are caught speeding by a police car where the police car has a a dodgy light (say headlamp or brake-light out) they cannot prosecute you
The facts are that a lot of people just fess up and pay the fine & take the points, but if you ask for evidence prior to court; at least you will see what you are up against. Previous experience dictates this route for me, I have had this in the past where I remember the camera flash, noted down the place and time on a pad in my glove box, got the paperwork through the post & then replied asking for proof and evidence, turns out no evidence was forthcoming and nothing ever happened. Later found out local Pol. force did not have the manpower to deal with any objections or request for further info from the fixed cams-
so they just dropped all cases where this happened however, in reality, its the poor old straight and honest person that gets to lose here by fessing up and paying without questioning.
I will never again just pay up and take it- you decide what is good for you, but I will always ask for proof first

was back in 2003 usd to live in guisbrough ! the most anoying thing about it was the camera van was half on the road half on the curb and causing a obstruction forcing me to go into the opersite carrageway to pass so i should of argued that i had to accelerate out of danger ,but in the end i just begrudgingly took the points not fancying a court date :thumbsdown:
