Saw this earlier and thought it hilarious. Even funnier because unbeknown to the 80 year old restorer, the church had just gained a sizeable donation from the artist's family for a proper restoration!

Do you think she got halfway through it and thought "oh s**t, what have I done' or pinned it back on the wall thinking "good job, wonder if anyone will notice"?
 
The old lady who perpetrated the vandalism did have a very valid point. Regardless of the monumental mess she made of it, why didn't any of the people who watched her doing it (for a period of several days, apparently) actually stop her... :?

And why is Jesus carrying a rolled up rug?

The news article said this "restoration" has bought more visitors than before to their church. People apparently queuing around the street
