410 Miles to a tank of fuel. Is it a Z4 RECORD?

What's the best milage you have got from a tank fuel? On my recent Europe trip, I filled the car up in Toulon after just getting off the ferry from Corsica. I drove up through France via Sisteron/Grenobe at Grenobe I pasted on fuelling because of the price 192 euros. Heading for Avallon I was next able to fill up at Autum having pasted 2 closed stations and with only 23 miles showing on the computer I had done 410.2 miles

I filled up using 50 litres divided by 4.5 = 11 gallons = 11 into 410 = 37 mpg
Scary at the time, but great! for a 6 cylinder engine

i Used to get similar results in my 3.0 E85 but roof up and light on the throttle.

Not really the point of a sports car IMHO, more a 1.5 Prius :D

Don't think so - maybe for a 3.0?

Don't you have a 12 gallon tank, so the range is based on 12 gallons - or are we assuming the last gallon or so is never used and is when the range shows _ _ _ ?

My ///M has shown a 380 mile range (34mpg based on 11 gallons) when I've filled it up (not often, admittedly).

Ye ive had over 380 read on my Z4M

Sure there is a few over 450 in the 3.0l on here somewhere if driven nicely you can get about 40mpg.

But still not bad going

No He probably brim filled it and did the same again. so tank to tank calculation.

As I usually head straight for the closest fuel once the reserve light comes on, the most I've got before filling up was about 370 in the ///M - but that was also due to missing one service station and the 2nd having only diesel :headbang:

Didn't manage to hit the _ _ _ though, so I'd have probably been safe for another 30 miles...maybe :driving:

Cruise control and some will power required to hit the 400+ range

but as per above posts - some crazy figures for a 3.0 engine

I am usually filling up around the 300/330 mile mark, petrol light on. I average around 30/32 mpg but i thought it great to know in times of need, the car will deliver
just to for the record I have the 2.5si

It does say in the manual tho that running the car to minimum fuel level will damage the engine, dont know if that includes reserve after _ _ _ _

Okay but my life time average mpg was 37.6, and actual was around 37 mpg based on a weekly mixed use

That's still decent mileage for a 3.0 petrol... Don't think I've managed more than 30mpg in granny mode in the z4mc... however I haven't tried any coasting techniques in it yet...

...I'm intrigued by the latest porsche autobox in the 991, early tech specs said that they were going to include a coast mode where if you backed off on the accelerator it would disengage the clutch and hence "coast"... Interesting to see how it would work in practice as you'd probably want engine breaking in spirited driving. However, if you could get 40mpg in a 911 then that would be a breakthrough, wouldn't be long before other manufacturers would try that

42.8 mpg based on the 140 mile journey home when i first picked up my zed, i was very impressed at the time :)

However it struggles to reach 27 mpg these days... :driving:

Some year ago in the winter of 2004 I decide to try to max my MPG on a long trip. The first leg of the trip was all Interstate highway, mostly level and very low traffic. I obtained 35 + MPG and traveled over 400 mile before refueling. I seem to remember about 420 mile between fuel stops but I was more interested in MPG than distance. That was on my 2003 3.0i.

All modern engines dont use any fuel while coasting? i seem to remember hearing on topgear?

Best MPG ive seen out of my Z4M was 37mpg, but it was really bad weather and I was stuck behind a truck on the A69 over to Newcastle... so not real world but still
