40 years on.

Lauda’s ‘75 office compared with 2015 Sauber’s, how times change. Looks a busy thing to get to grips with to say the least....!

All that technology and 40 years on its just a dull sport :(

Best time for me was Senna, Prost and Mansell era.

Tim.

Yep, I grew up watching them on the BBC with my Dad. It used to really hold our interest, 25ish yrs on and neither of us give a sh*t about the sport.
Utterly boring to watch these days despite the money and rule changing gimmicks they introduce to spice things up.

Really interesting John - I much prefer the Lauda era!

You had to drive the car, not p*ss about with software.

It is dull these days. However, manufacturers still use it to test new tech to destruction before they can adapt it for mainstream manufacture, so it does need to embrace modern technology.

Much rather watch rallying though.

Are you sure about the tech?

Is that why we all have ABS and traction control, but F1 can't use either of them?

I really can't see me ever needing KERS or DRS!

It seems to be a tech-fest that none of us will ever need at a price we wouldn't want to pay because it's something we'd never get an opportunity to use - so pointless IMHO! Or did I miss something?

Sorry John I didn't mean to put a dampner on your post

Forgot to say though Murray Walker was the best commentator at the time as well, golden years :)
