It seems the mighty ///M has been around for forty years, as a car crazy kid I remember the stir caused by the upstart 3.0 CSL Coupe whipping ass, up 'till then BMW had been a rather stodgy alternative to mainstream makers like Ford. I first started fantasising over the ///M when Clarkson was an upstart freelance for Performance Car Magazine, he latched on to the Mid 80's M5 penning some spectacular write-ups on trans-continental dashes which occupied my lunch breaks as an apprentice.
I've still not had an ///M yet, maybe soon. 8)
