4 yellow lights- solved

Keep getting a recurring 4 yellow light alert

Sometimes it clears on restarting the car, other times it needs resetting using code reader/Carly

I’ve had the osf ABS sensor unplugged and cleaned when I did the suspension but it’s still recurring

So: is it advisable to replace the sensor? Or do I need to look elsewhere?

Cheers

Stuart

I'd have a look at the reluctor ring to check for cracks before replacing the sensor but likely the sensor IMO

Can you inspect that without taking the hub off?

Probably not, haven't done one on the front axle and never owned an E85/6 it's likely corroded on a older car but id say it's either the sensor or what the sensor takes it's reading from that is your issue, if a sensor is reasonable cost its worth trying a replacement, if it doesn't work I'd order the reluctor. probably cheaper to buy than the sensor but never easy to swap over.

I've known them to be ok after a clean though so a strip down might be an option if you have time and good with the spanners.

Probably the reluctor ring ......can be cleaned through the Sensor hole ...( i think i have seen a You tube Video .....how to clean ).....a bugger to change though .First stop ...new sensor .

Sensor is about 13 quid on autodoc so I’ll try that first

Cheers all

At £13 I dont think you're wrong to try it first, it's a very likely cause but please let us know what the fix is, not enough threads that have a resolution

Hi Stuart,
I did actually record my findings on the same issue when I changed the brake discs on Vall's.
Though I kept clear of the sensor itself, the hammering that it took to remove the front left disc obviously upset the old sensor.
I tried cleaning the ring, with a cloth on a stick through the sensor hole, but no joy.
New sensor fitted, sorted it.

PS. I think the sensors were different numbers left and right?

Here’s hoping it’s the sensor- got one on the way from autodoc as we speak!

Cheers

So far- sensor replacement has solved the 4 yellows issue

Fingers crossed it remains that way!

They certainly don't like shock waves from the BFH when removing discs! Hopefully cured it then?
