4 Wheel Alignment Today..

Just thought i would share this, first time i have ever had 4 wheel laser alignment done and what a great peice of kit, i was amazed how accurate this is, took a while to get it all set up to get a reading but once done the read out was given on a screen which shows all the positions of the wheels and if they are in or out of factory tollerances, a few pics getting set up.

Reflector things on all 4 wheels then rocked back and forth into correct position

Steering locked into central position

The readout prior to any adjustments being made. You can see from this that when the white line falls into the green zone it's cock on, the only thing that was not touched was the front camber which is shown on the centre dials, to say i did this mod myself it's pretty accurate at 1.34 and 1.38 degs negative, this is a simple thing to do and has made a fantastic difference. The guy said given what it should be and what it is tyre wear should not be an issue.

The recent suspention mods have in total cost me £240 and i have to say it is the best money i have spent for the results i have out of it, A big thank you to Curtis who gave me guidance on the project and all i can say is if you 'Drive' your Z or track it then this is an essential modification, the transformation is fantastic, thanks for reading....

North Eastern Tyre & Exhausts by any chance? I got the same thing done last year... seemed ok but not convinced the steering wheels lines up dead centre now.

How do you know it's accurate? Don't get me wrong I'm sure it's very good, but just because a number shows on a nice GUI does not mean it's accurate.

No, i wouldn't trust them with it to be honest, i took it to 'Auto Refinishers' at Dunnington, very good they were too..

OK Phil, what i meant to say was how 'Sensative it was in that the smallest amount of movement in the track etc and it would register and show it. As for what i think you mean in the 'Accuracy' then your quite right in that i don't suppose i will ever know how 'True' it is but given what needs to be done and what kit is available to do it then how much more 'Accurate' anything could be i don't know..

I don't know either, but I guess I'd have the wheels off and take measurements off the hub faces if it were me, but of course that takes more time and money. It has to be a hell of a lot better than the usual Kwik fit style alignment.

It should be interesting to see how it improves the car on the track, is it tomorrow your going? The pics show the front wheel alignment but I just want to double check that they adjusted the rears as well and what settings did you go for in the end?

yep set rears too, 1 deg neg camber and 1mm toe in, fronts camber as you see, 1mm toe out, Croft is next Friday..

Cool! Shame you can't get a bit more neg front camber for the track, adjustable camber plates next??!!
