4 tyres in a Z?

You may find yourself in the awkward position of having the Z as your only car and needing new tyres.

Before ordering the tyres, you may ask yourself if it is possible to fit 4 tyres into the Z. Surely not, you tell yourself. You search the forum and see disbelievers telling you that there is no way! Perhaps 2 they say, but not 4. Some may say 3, with luck, but not 4. Others will tell you it is possible but only if you take a seat out....

Ladies and gentlemen, let me give you proof that it is entirely possible, even with 18s. Theoretically, this would even work with alloys although it may be an even worse idea given their weight.

I present to you, the Z-transporter:

Here are the steps for the Tetris game

1. Open roof
2. Slide seat forward
3. Fit a 225 behind the seat
4. Slide seat back
5. Keep passenger door close and through the open roof, put a 255 and 225 onto the seat. The 225 goes in front
6. Close roof
7. Put a 255 into the boot
8. From the driver side, slide something under the 225 on the passenger seat lifting it by 5 cm (otherwise you won't be able to select a gear)

Throughout, watch your seats and radio!

I did not manage to put two tyres in the boot. Not even 2x 225s
Good luck

Tim 182, that's brilliant.

Do you think it would work with 19"s.

I'm planning to get my alloys redone in a different chrome colour, and was thinking of fitting Non RFT's, but the quandry was how do I get the new tyres to the alloy garage other than using two cars?

I am pretty sure 19s would work as well. My only worry is that I cannot see out of the left window or even get the slightest glimpse of the left mirror. So since I have a number of garages within a few miles I think I will simply make two trips tomorrow

Well done
I've had 4 in my E85. 2 in the boot with the lid bungied down and 2 on the passenger seat

Could you get three on the passenger seat with the roof down?

My only problem is the Alloy place is 18 miles away up the motorway :?

As part of the Tetris did you manage to fasten the seatbelt. Otherwise the car will be squawking all the way to the garage [emoji6]

Yes but you won't be able to see out of the passenger window or mirror. Also, get plenty of protection for the seat and dash! Also be very careful about damaging your centre console!

Good effort but don't you over complicate?

All you need to do is have the tyre supplier deliver direct to the wheel refurb company. I've done this 3 or 4 times from the major suppliers with no issue or questions asked.

Of course too late in this instance if the tyres are already delivered.

True, if you know which fitter you are going to at the time of ordering!

You should have bought an ///M coupe, it's somewhat easier:

1 Open boot, put in two tyres, close boot
2 Open passenger door, put two tyres on seat, close door
3 Drive off

Works with 18" and 19" tyres / tyres and wheels :D

That was my original plan. I will still have 4 good RFT's to move though.

For sure but you can bring those back 2 at a time with limited risk to the car, being stopped, etc.
