4 series advice....

Hi,
We're looking to trade-in the daily E92 for a 4 series convertible.
Just wondering if any one on here has any advice?
Also - any useful forums to look at? I did the usual search - found US centric forums, or UK ones but with very little activity, or, they are not F33 specific. Clearly, not all forums are as good as this one!

Depends on the model you want, but a friend has a 420d convertible and it's been faultless for the time he's had it. A bit heavy and not really sporting, but surprisingly nice to drive for a diesel.

I thoroughly enjoyed my four years of ownership of a 435d, mighty quick, excellent traction with the xdrive, comfortable and enjoyable to drive given it was close to a two tonne car, brakes could have been better and wish I’d gone for the upgraded ones. Faults were a. new Harmon Kardon amplifier and all the mid range speakers, as the water had got into the bottom of the boot and collected around the amp, when it popped it damaged the speakers. The only other fault was a rear window regulator, these are both common faults on the four series, all were done under warranty.

Had a 420d coupe as a company car. Really enjoyed it, handles well even for a heavy diesel. Quick enough.

Nothing went wrong at all in 4 years

The M4 convertible has always seemed to me a pointless car, the added weight over a coupe is a big hinder for handling as is the loss of structural rigidity in losing the roof to make it a great fast car (I would say sports car but there’s only one four seater that fulfils that role and that’s really a 2+2) The 435d makes more sense as it becomes more of a fast cruiser with the added reassurance of xdrive.

Afraid you've bowled me a googlie there Pondrew! What on earth does that mean...
 It's because 1 series (and therefore 2 series by definition) buzz around you on the motorway and are annoying! No offence intended just my (often misplaced) sense of humour
