3rd Zed!

Picked up my third Zed today, 2011 30i, 32k miles, Space Grey with red leather.

Having decided to come back to a Zed after having an M2C for a couple of years I have changed my mind over and over, from mapped E89 to E85 and finally landing on E86.... only to find a manual 30i in my favourite colour combo, mint with low miles which I couldn’t overlook. Having had the M2C and a 35is before that (both DCT) I really wanted a more involved drive and first impressions are it’s exactly what I was after. Don’t get me wrong the sheer power of those two is fun but hard to access on the road and this feels like a better balance, love the NA straight six.

Ironically it is the same colour combo and wheels as my 35is and looks almost identical! It’s missing PDC from my ‘like to haves’ but I’ll cope! A few tweaks to make and better photos but for now....

Noice! Did you get it from a dealer, seeing as it looks like your first stop was to get fuel? :D
 
Welcome back to Z4 ownership - yours looks great. :thumbsup:

It's interesting that you are finding the manual gearbox a more involving drive than your previous DCT cars.

I took my Z4 for some essential travel today and just loved zipping up and down the gearbox, and I know I'd miss that experience if I didn't have a manual box!
 
Nice colour. I understand why you went manual. My ‘daily’ is the ZF8 gearbox and perfect for that role but my Zed had to be manual. Enjoy your new pride and joy :thumbsup:
 
Nice z4 you’ve got there, another manual transmission fan here for the added “mechanical involvement” it brings :driving:

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed both the DCTs, but having had them for 3+ years I felt like a change and going back to a manual. Better or worse, it’s definitely different which is what I was after!
 
Love the colour. If I didnt like black cars so much (stupidly) I would definitely have a car this colour.
 
Good luck with your new purchase!!! Hope you have many miles of smiles in it. My first choice is always a manual car. Unless it is a daily and I have to drive in bumper to bumper traffic all day then auto. But am lucky I have two other cars ( nissian maxima) auto for daily and second (VW turbo wolfsburg Jetta) manual for when I want a spirited ride but the weather is not to keen for the Zed. (only comes out on sunny clear dry days)

Does making buying the newer G29 a bit difficult though! :wink:
