3rd puncture in a year :(

I'm running Bridgestone Potenza RE050As on my 296 wheels.

In the last 12 months, I have had 2 punctured tyres through getting a nail in them and now I seem to have picked up a third puncture! I can't see any nail in it but it's losing tyre pressure within a day or two - so I'm assuming a slow puncture.

Is this normal or have I just been very unlucky? Do the run flats have a habit of picking up every nail on the road!?

At ~£250 per tyre, this is killing my bank balance at the moment. I'm considering tyre insurance.

You dont have to keep buying new tyres, get them repaired. Runflats are not witchcraft, they repair like any other tyre.

I've had z couple done. No issues whatsoever.

Agreed they are repairable so long as the sidewall isn't damaged. Having said that some tyre places won't repair them as they say running them with pressure loss will have damaged or compromised the sidewalls. I think it depends how long they are driven.

Do you tend to drive a particular daily route, it could be there is a building site nearby etc, I would say you've been unlucky to be honest.

I'm starting to think I'd wished I'd ticked the runflats option on the M135i as the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are a magnet for stones etc, its just a constant banging around the wheel arches

Tim.

I took the tyre insurance for 3 years and got 4 replacements all within the last year of the insurance. I was starting to think I had wasted my money. I bought one rear tyre myself for just north of £300. A few of those and I would turn green. I hope they all last until I change the car.

Does anyone know how much they can be driven on if they are to be repaired?

Common sense has to apply. If you get a puncture warning, get some air in asap. See what the pressure was, was it flat or just a bit low etc. If it was not flat, top it up and get it home. Its the way to save £300...

If it's run flat I would not repair. If you get a slow and pump it up before driving then different story.

Had runflats repaired on the previous zed which went on to do 5000 miles plus and many forum hoons :driving:
Dont be put of saving a few quid by the scaremongering !

Very very unlucky, not wanting to jinx myself :-? but I've been driving for 25 years and have only ever had 2 maybe 3 in all that time! One of those was on a brand new car I'd only had for two days with less than 200 mile on the clock, I saw the thing that caused it as well, but was unable to swerve to avoid it...a big chunk of sharp metal in the middle of the road.

Not wanting to get you paranoid, but you're not parking up where some jealous sod could be putting nails/screws under your tyres are you?
