3rd Party Warranties

My car, being a 2007, is out of BMW warranty and in mid March the 3 month dealer warranty provided when I bought it will also end. Given that it's a BMW and expensive to repair I'm looking at 3rd party warranty options.

Currently the Go Car Ultimate Warranty http://www.gocarwarranty.co.uk/car-warranties looks a good deal at £380 for 3 years.

Has anyone any experience of this particular warranty or can recommend any other 3rd party warranty?

My dad bought a octavia VRS last year which came with a warrantywise warranty.

at 26,000 miles an injector went, £400 part, they sorted it out no problems at all.

Check where you have to take it and what hourly rates they will accept for labour etc.

Audio Equipment is often not covered so check that as well.

Think the BMW warranty is still the best TBH and only pennies more than Warranty Direct.

Thanks, I haven't checked BMW yet but will do. I've only just started looking to be honest. This one states they pay up to £100 ph for labour to allow you to take it to a main dealer. Unlimited number of claims of unlimited amount but yes, audio equipment isn't covered. They do provide a car for up to 7 days though whilst yours is being repaired.

Interestingly the Z4 is the same cost as the 3 Series which is less than all other BMWs including the 1 Series. Most are in the £500 - £800 bracket.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread - my car is about to run out of the AUC warranty and planning on extending it.

What excess on the quote you have?

No excess - car must be less than 8 years and less than 80,000 miles at start of warranty

I'm looking at the Ultimate Warranty

Warranty Wise just quoted £1250 for 3 years

Minor point of order here; the dealers responsibility for faults lasts six months not three. Let nobody tell you otherwise.

So don't be wasting your money for a while yet.

Warranty Direct seem to get the best press though.

Warranty direct try to retract warranties if you have an early problem after taking out a policy....

I take it this applies to BMW dealers because I got mine from Evans Halshaw who gave a 3 month warranty.

I'm puzzled how they can revoke a contract like that on unreasonable grounds, but the fact is all of these companies are much of a muchness, and a lot of the problems we hear people whining about are stuff that the policy doesn't cover, but they simply didn't bother to read it or are too stupid to understand it if they did.

All I'm saying is that WD do seem to get the better press, thats all. But its a bit like saying a shark bite isn't as bad as a Killer Whale bite....

Personally I just take the risk.....if you insured everything you owned you'd soon be broke. Go on, live dangerously... :poke:

It says a lot for image of BMW being a quality product when you have to worry about buying expensive warranties on low milage ,nearly new cars.Maybe thats the charm of them good lucking but unreliable or thats what we are led to beleive. Why else would we shell out loads of cash. :?

Depends what dealer, I once got a car with 14 days warranty, although it was a shed!
