3rd brake light

Hi Guys

I've got a crack / missing bit on my third brake light. Its not leaking ... yet! .. but I suspect it will eventually. I believe the replacement part is a 63256917378 but I'm sure I've read on here that you have to buy springs etc for it. Could someone kindly clue me in as to what I need and how much of a job it is to change please.

2min job, need a deep 10mm socket to make it easy, pick one up for a couple of quid

remove the boot handles to make it even easier (4xphilips head screws) and the third light is held in by 3 10mm nut/washer combis with a spring on them undo those, unplug the little lead and slide it out

Cheers Ant, that does sound straight forward, but I'm sure I read that you need to use new springs otherwise you can crack the new light?
 
BMW sell 'weaker' springs, Although I kept my original springs and made sure I didn't over tighten. I've heard other members forking out for the new 'weaker' springs and still cracking their light!

yup, mine had maybe 2 dim lights in the middle only working, soon as i unscrewed the thing it basically disintegrated

i just used the old springs and didn't overtighten
