I'm after the 3rd brake light for my 53 plate z4 if anyone has one or can recommend where to buy a reasonably priced one. Thanks in advance

Give Sopers of Lincoln a call and mention the Forum, you will get a discount and they will post it out to you.
Clear is cheaper than red.

Yep, not worth buying used as they are fragile. You'll get a warranty with a new one from BMW.

I prefer the term 'alleged' warranty. BMW have given up responding to my requests for them to honour it after mine failed despite the weaker springs.
I'll chase it up again when I have some more time.

Interesting, Steve - mine has cracked and come away from the "backing plate". Replaced brand new about six months ago, including the (as you stated) weaker springs. I've taken it apart and glued it with super glue, will see how long that lasts...

I just want them to replace it on principle - I expect them to honour the stated warranty. I am going to have it looked at one last time by a different dealer. After that it will be letter to BMW, failing that the County Court route.

When you say warranty, was it fitted by BMW? As mine won't be covered as I fitted it myself...

So much for the 'weaker springs' advice others gave me (and I ignored) - I stuck with the original springs didn't tighten too much and just replaced the light.

I fitted it myself but nowhere in the documentation does it say it must be fitted by Bmw, just that parts are covered by a two year warranty. I followed the SIB and will use that as proof that it's a known fault.
I'm sure once I hassle Bmw with it they will simply cough up lest a flood of claims come rolling in from this forum!

Fitted mine myself but my local dealer still replaced it after it failed 2-3 months later.

In my case the top lip came away around the middle, so not the usual failure.
