3rd Brake Light - Spring Tension Question

I have replaced my ZR's third brake light this morning as there was a small crack in the centre of the lens of the existing unit. I have ensured I have also replaced the springs with the revised ones together with washers and nuts. My question is how much do you tighten the nuts i.e. do you fully compress the springs, half compress or stop when the nuts initially hits the springs.

TIS says 2.5 Nm - I still think that puts too much tension on the springs though - it's just a crappy design.

If mine goes again, after the fight I had to get a replacement last time, I will have BMW install it and see if it lasts for the 2 year warranty period.

Just tighten it until it sensibly holds the brake light in place, pretty much just over finger tight. it doesn't need to be silly tight.

I hold the lens in place and finger tighten the nuts until they just hold the light.
