Jonny... you'd also need a 6 speed gearbox, rear diff & new brakes.

As much as you love your ride, you're paying every way including your insurers who'd I'm sure get funny over your 'mods'.

Bite the bullet... get an //M

I would have to agree

Or go mad and get a v8 in there

Surely an old m5 v8 will fit abs not be too much? Or a vette engine

Maybe Woots, I ought to sell Jonny my car... has the M sport heated seats he wants... then I can get my // M if my other plan comes together

Now that's a serious bad boy... If you're going to change then this V8 would be the dogs danglers. There was a post on here a short while back but after everything was said & done, inc complete M3 rear suspension, don't expect much change from 10k

Honestly. Sell your 2.0 four pot and buy a bigger engined zed. Keep the parts you want, and swap all your mods over.

Anything else is a waste if time

Do it. Get an ///M ;)

But to me would be a second hand car....no offence but its the new car love i have for her

This is a bit like the only fools and horses broom scene

I know u want to keep ur car, but changing the wheels and engine etc etc means eventually ur changing original stuff, when u open the bonnet of the 3.0 it will just seem like any other 3.0

Why not do something awesome :)

Yeah for a complicated e92 engine that needs wizard electronics

How about an older v8? I just think 3k to turn it into a 3.0 is a little crazy

You obv like to have a different car to regular ppl, so why have a normal engine?

I think you'll be disappointed by a 3L - there aren't that tunable without forced induction which will add several thousand more to the total cost. The E39 M5 V8 would be a relatively cheap option and one that I'm sure would fit.

As others have said, sack off the idea and just buy a 3.0si/M. You can always transfer your mods over. Second-hand cars aren't diseased :P

If you put the //M5 cod piece under the hood, will you keep your 2.0 badge on?

You could then always argue in your car, it doesn't refer to the engine size but rather the number of legally seated occupants...

Im seroius about this as someone got right on my tits about this last time so help please....

Other people's opinions shouldn't annoy you.....they are opinions.

I agree with the others, just buy an M. But if your intent on keeping your current Z then just crack on and buy the 3.0 or maybe there's another engine which could make things a bit more special that would fit?

Nissan s14 engine would great, it's cheap and easy tunable.

Ive seen Z4s with them in before now the engine i could get for 3-4k low miles but just what other parts involved, mounts, fire wall, diffs, gear box, electrics???
How much if i had it fitted with all parts i need if i sourced engine, total rough cost with all i need fitted?
can not help you mate.... but sounds good

But the engine will be second hand, and who knows how that has been treated.

The old M5 v8 is a good shout has been done and documented.

But personally i like Marius suggestion the most... The s16 would be lightweight like your current 4 pot, but they can be boosted to well over 300bhp.

Getting a 3L just seems stupid... Your basically recreating something you can buy off the shelf... Without mechanical issues/ increased insurance... Plus without the 3L spec improvements. Also you can get a newer car... Milage isnt the only wear and tear cars have... Seals etc perish over time too.

New car love is a little irrelevant on an 8yr old motor :poke:

You have 3 options.

1. 3.0. Pointless cost when you could trade your car in for an ///M roadster for a little more cost than the conversion.

2. V8 or V10. Engine fitment would be £5k plus before you sort brakes, diff, gears etc. cheaper to buy an ///M

3. Another engine. Unknown costs to convert but could work out cheaper.

If you look beyond the "I've owned my car from new", the answer points to buying an ///M, or maybe a 3.0si. Makes perfect sense. Just do it :poke: :)

you can fit m54b30 engine for less than grand(including the engine ) if you do all work your self , so it's way cheaper than buying M .

proper V8 or V10 conversion would cost over £15k easy

Best option for jonny would be fitting turbo on 2.0 engine , for ~£10k he would easy get 400bhp plus .
