Now that 3D printing looks set to become more ubiquitous, I wonder if it's possible to print car parts? Obviously not ones that have structural or mechanical properties, but things like wing mirror caps, or internal trims etc?

Way ahead of you... I already got some out of production parts 3D printed. The left and right hand covers for inside the E85 hardtop. A friend of mine printed them for me

The hard top is still (optimistically) in storage... I'm hoping for a few more nice days this year.
I will take some pics when I give up on the weather and get it out. I subsequently found some original parts, so I can do some side by side pics.

my favourite thing you can (possibly) do with a 3D printer? Print a 3D printer.... seriously. My friend that has one reckons you should be able to print most of the parts to build a 3D printer....

No, the side covers for when the roof is on. Although, i am sure those could be done too....
