3D Carbon Vinyl Interior Wrap

Hi all,

I am looking into wrapping some panels in my interior.

I have seen a few forum members using a 3D carbon effect vinyl wrap which looks great in a satin/matt finish.

Can anyone recommend where to source this from? There are tonnes on ebay but don't want to end up ordering something that looks cheap and tacky.

Thanks

OK so I did mine!
How do you like this?

Tried the vinyl wrap looked OK but then i found the leather option, So Dash and console done in grey leather with red stitching.Dash.JPG

Has anyone got their dash trims hydro dipped and if so what’s your thoughts as I’m thinking of getting my done as it currently has wood which is very old school. I have purchased a spare set of eBay to keep the originals for if or when I move the car on in a few years?

Any thought or pictures would be appreciated.

Had mine hydro dipped three years ago when I bought the car :D

Thanks, that looks like the satin finish I am after. Cheers!

What size roll did you use or can recommend for covering: dash trim, tunnel trim and door pulls?

Are there and hint or tips on vinyl wrapping parts?

Yes I like the hydro dipped trim although maybe a little bit to shinny for me as I want to replicate the carbon fibre leather look as close as possible as I don’t want to pay BMW £900 for new pieces as my Z4MC came with wood from the factory!

Ok, I got 1520x500 x2. And I now have most of the second roll left.

I had to order the second one because I messed up the main brushed ally piece by over trimming the edges.

I have done almost all the bits you can get at so maybe try one roll first and see where you get to? Or just one 2000x500 ish.

Tips... Be patient with how you take the car apart, it takes a good while. The wrapping also takes quite a long time. I spent the best part of 3 days on mine overall including disassembly, wrapping and assembly.

Have a hairdryer to hand, you need it. You can do magical things with hot vinyl. It will stretch quite a long way and go into the bends you need to do. However you have to hold it in place whilst it cools a bit.

With the two big metal bits (passengers side dash and centre console bit) treat each one as a whole rectangle before you trim out the holes for things like the radio. Then once it's on, heat up the area you're going to cut out and press down to make it conform to the little edges.

You will need to have about half a cm wrapped around onto the back on all your edges ideally.

Good luck! Shout if you need help.

Thanks so much for the advice? Great to have tips from previous experience. I don't suppose you have any images through out your process?

Thanks for the info!

I certainly have some! But not really of the process. I fully intended to write a guide with pics. But everything taking longer than I expected, I just had to try get finished.

Here's the pics I did take.
