Nice wheels, nice to see something other than CSLs :)

+40 bhp from exhaust / k&n + remap? Interesting. Who did it, if you don't mind me asking ?

I saw this car on pistonheads last night while I was looking for a possible daily driver but got sidetracked by the M section of the classifieds :).

If you still have the original wheels you might be better off selling it with those on and selling the aftermarket wheels seperately. Aftermarket wheel upgrades (or downgrades) just doesn't seem to be done on the Z4 M's often so maybe not well accepted, other than CSL's which are at least a BMW wheel.

Personally, the wheels don't do anything for me although they are of course NOT ugly. THey give the car a more dainty look or less muscular look in the pics (might be different in for real). If I was looking to buy, I would be put off by the aftermarket wheels and cone filter on such priced car. Just my opinion though :). Many mods done unless using BMW parts are better off being reversed prior to selling such a car, and many don't like those cone filters. BMW spends £££ developing an intake system yet some rip it out and put some generic cone on the end of a pipe hopefully grabbing in some cold air. I think you could get away with the remap and exhaust though.

Good luck with the sale, if you find a buyer looking for those particular mods you'll be fine.

*Just noticed you can include the standard air filter box etc and exhaust in the sale - that'll definately help.

I'd revert it too... and you'd still be able to ask for that kind of money for it, or very close, AND be able to sell the modded parts for good money too!

Dave

Falcon performance engineering has done all the mods at a very high standard. The car has a 343 bhp engine standard, the exhaust gives the car between 3 and 5 bhp, the intake gives the car between 15 and 20 bhp and the remap gives it between 12 and 17 bhp so overall the bhp is between 373 and 385. In case anyone is wondering where ive got these numbers from they were all provided to me by falcon performance engineering before i had the work done. The extra 30 or 40 bhp really makes a difference. Please let me know what you think.

Great looking car, sounds like it's been babied too (new discs and pads with only 20k on it?)...but if you don't mind me saying, your pricing is high. 06's with similar mileage and spec start from £22,500 at a main dealer, check out the AUC... that's stock, but the exhaust and remap isn't going to add £2500. Also is yours under warranty? If it is, might be worth mentioning as that can definitely help resale.

Not too sure about the the intake, but the gain from the remap is quite high. If well established companies, such as ESS can only achieve 5/6bhp then I very much doubt Falcon can achieve anything close to what they've stated. From what you've done I would say around 15-20bhp gains.

It's difficult on here.

Most owners will question the mods/power claim, go on Autotrader it'll appeal loads I'd imagine!

Being so heavily modded won't help resale generally though (probably lost 75% of potential market), but revert it and you should do ok + make money on the modded parts!

I had a huge post written about BHP claims, but I've decided not to post it in this thread as that would not be good form.
I'll just say that there are certain mods which would make me not even bother going to see a car.

However, I'll be posting it somewhere else with a poll to see how much BHP we think this car really has :P

I'm sorry if some people think that i'm exaggerating the bhp stats but I can only tell you what i've been told, regardless this car is in immaculate condition and with the breyton wheels it has on it is a massive head tuner with better than average performance.

Absolutely... you can only go on what you've been told! I kind of expected this when I saw the title*. Does look like a great car though, sort of thing I would love to hear in action

Wheels remind me of the GT3 alloys... I think. (I know they are different)

Out of interest, any ideas what are you going to replace this with? That's the big one for a lot of M owners... the lengths you have to go to just to match it!

I'm in the market for a noble m400 but they are very hard to get hold of with only 1 for sale on the internet at the moment. But i agree that it is very hard to match the performance of my z4 without buying a supercar.

I understand that, and I'm a skeptic like Mr Whippy, whilst I agree that there are some huge gains to be easily had on turbo petrol & diesel cars, the same cannot be said for normally aspirated engines (especially ones that are already highly-tuned). I've had plenty done over the years on previous cars, including spending over £10k on a Corrado VR6 (Schrick cams, head, valves, variable intake manifold, etc.) but even then I was told that whilst one mod would give me peak power, another would give me mid-range power, and another would make the engine more flexible.

All these were done on a part-by-part basis and the remapping was done by an ex race team guy who sat in the car with his laptop for hours at a time getting the set up right for that specific car. In the end I probably got 50bhp increase and a similar increase in torque (peak numbers), but it wasn't easy and it wasn't cheap - but it was faster than most other VR6s that had had superchargers and a claimed 30bhp advantage over mine.

However, I'm sure you'll have seen those 20bhp resistors, magnetic fuel devices and electric supercharges on ebay - all claiming wonderful things. However without proof no-one on here would even consider fitting one - yet we're told we could get 40bhp for £20!

Nice looking car. Will not mention about power- but have u tried dyno and see what figures are achieved. thats one way to prove it.

What did your mods add to the insurance you pay....?

Wow, tough crowd, I bet he's feeling really good about taking the time to register here now.

Good luck with the sale dude, I have a Z4M with a few mods and love it, I'm sure it will give someone a wonderful ownership experience.

Now if you were from the tuners, trying to make money out of us folk I would expect a similar backlash, but you're not.. you're a punter like us.

However, it seems like you were given fairly genuine evidence of your increase, maybe if you had a before / after print out of dyno results, it would further your case. However I do agree with the majority in that you'll surely have more chance of selling if it was stock.
