35is slayer....

Picked this manual 35i up from Player 1 in Devon yesterday, bit of an impulse purchase tbh, 360bhp Evolve map, M4 brakes, front control arms, H&R anti roll bar, strut brace. The thing is a bit bonkers, I’ve been in Jollyjoiners 360 35i but didn’t drive it, I’m frankly a bit shocked just how much more pull this has compared to a stock 35is given its only 20bhp more, I don’t know the torque figure for this, I forgot to ask..... . It’s no E89 I’ve ever driven, so much more composed to stock, manual box is slick, its a belter of a car.

Popped a new steering wheel and black front grills on today as first mods. Plans are to throw some KWV3’s on, rear H&R anti roll bar, adjustable drop links, bigger volume intercooler, a pair of downpipes and an Eisenmann ‘Zorst’ as the yoof say.... . Should make it quite a weapon and a fun project car. Also maybe a respray in a dark grey like the pic. Either way can’t see me parting with this for quite some time.

:? ....I put a deposit on it in August....

Anyway don’t you start on me matey boy....you nicked Bobs 35i out from under my nose.... :poke:

That grey one looks amazing John

Interesting to hear you say how much better it is than the 35iS. Having just given mine its first proper outing on some fantastic roads I can’t imagine it with even more grunt.

Maybe that’ll change as I get more used to it.

Sorry... oh not really :)
I thought you enquired after that car in August last year

Amazing grey colour isn’t it Andy...suits a Zed to a T.

I wouldn’t say better Andy, just more grunt, the delivery on a stock 35is is a little smoother perhaps, the Evolve map really takes off after 4K revs. I always said I couldn’t imagine a 35is with anymore power as the chassis is overstretched as is and I never had any desire to up the 340 bhp on one, but even these subtle mods on this 35i have transformed the car to an extent I wouldn’t have thought possible. Ride is still supple, stiff but supple, much like a 35is on sport setting with non run flats.

No.....THIS August.....

I wouldn’t be sorry either.....that 35i you’ve bought looks an absolute peach, well worth the outlay.

Sounds like a well sorted car John, has it overshadowed the g29 option? :?
Rob

I really can’t decide Rob.... Spec lockdown is Friday on a G29 so I’ve got to decide yes or no.

Thing is the G29 is very very nice, a comfy very capable cruiser, but it just lacks excitement, it doesn’t feel any different to a regular 3 series really, and my issue is can I stomach the depreciation on a car that is just ‘Nice’....whereas the depreciation on a 718 GTS should be a fraction of a Zed. That and I can’t really afford a 718...

Unless I sell everything else that is.......

What would that give it...?

390bhp ish

But why would you get all excited about a BHP figure you'll never use when it sounds as though it's the added torque that is making you all weak at the knees?

I’m not....I was just curious Enuff....it’s got enough grunt as is....any mods now will be to improve the chassis, cooling the intake charge and sound.

I was kind of defending your impressions of the car tbh.
I think, unless you're on a track, that torque is your friend and BHP is what sits on the bar stool next to you.
It sounds to me as though you have found a motor that fits the bill for you. Cosmetic tweaks may improve it for you, but there is a chance that the search for ultimate bar bragging rights would spoil what you have.
Play with the noise and the look, but accept the performance you have.

Have you started early tonight sire...... :poke: :P

Indeed. Been a long and shitty day and nothing like a bit of red wine fuelled violent agreement to get the evening going

Put MHD stage 1+ on it and really let it loose :driving:

What would that give it...?

I wouldn't bother John , ive had a traditionally remapped 35i manual & a MHD stage 1 35is , they don't even compare .
Its good you can now experience & feel the difference between a twin turbo DCT V manual , I was DCT after manual & found it one of my biggest motoring disappointments since buying a Alfa Brera
