100-point+ video report, engine oil & filter, air filter, plugs, microfilter, wash inside & out - £467.

Tomorrow, tyres. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 - 18 225/40 & 18 255/35 from Kwik Fit - £537.

(Plus wheel alignment. 2-wheel is free, but will have 4.)

I had this done a few months back - I do wonder where they get the 100+ points from bollox for the video report.

They seem to check for the consumables they can tack on to the service & that's about it.

So tyres, brakes - then what else exactly do they 'check' ?

I quote (headings only): "Interior & controls, Lights & glass, Wheels, Tyres, Brakes, Steering, Suspension, Drivetrain, Bodywork, Levels, CBS data".

Well, if this was even looked at in my '100 point inspection' they never mentioned it, and did not include it in the video.

Like I said, just tyres & brakes.

Was your video report more comprehensive?

I will call out Sytner Maidenhead then - my video inspection was nothing more than a wheel & trye check. Rubbish.

1 wheel nut = 1 point. So there's 20% of the 100 point check.

It's got to a stage where garages see how many points they can come up with. My record was a 150 point check on an F31. The coolant was low which they didn't check! The cap was too tight for their delicate little fingers..... :headbang:

I'm lucky, then, that my experience is better than yours.

So oil is £60, oil filter £8, Micro is £12 (just bought one), plugs £55, air filter £12.
Total £147.

I'm in the wrong business.

Tyres good price.

Actually, my money doesn't often go to the AD, because the car has BMW Insured Warranty and I use an indy for the routine stuff.

Sometimes, though, it makes sense to have an AD's receipt (& video) in the service history. :)

My cars service history ended in 2012.
One stamp in book.

Yet i bet it's in better nick than most stamped up cars.
