Oh dear ! Don't have a problem with water here.
I tried some demin water from work to rince mine off & don't think it made much difference. Move to Scotland save yourself a fortune lol :D

Been washing her once a week, so far haven't detected a single scratch of any type. I was the car carefully but not to the point of drying with a blower or worrying about ppm water levels. The Black Roof is without a doubt more easily marked than the normal paintwork, along with the A pilars, so care is required for sure.

Coated with Crystal Serum before collection (which helps greatly), then I use top quality mitts, Gtechniq Shampoo, 2 buckets, Hose Pipe, good towels and common sense.

I use a DI vessel for the final rinse (the 11 litre version was fine for me with Resin). I got that from here.

The air dryer from here
So just use the DI vessel inline and rinse with the hose, and the flow rate is good? The problem when I've looked at this before is that most people using these systems are window cleaners who are storing the water in tanks, with complaints about flow rate and time taken to fill etc... So I've not been able to get a grasp of whether they're good enough to use on demand, or whether I'd need to store the water somewhere.

I already have an air dryer, just the pet type, but it seems pretty much identical to the master blaster at 1/4 of the price :)

What is "soft" over there? I am getting 185 ppm here in the south which means my vessel lasts about 5 months or so. Around 100 ppm means that the vessel would last a year.

I am getting a permanent water softener installed which should bring my water in the house and the car-wash-tap down to 4 ppm, that way my vessel should last significantly longer.
So about £70 per year running it then? Do you know how much water that's using, or how many times you rinse the cars?

What I'm really wanting is a way of quickly getting the worst of the dirt off without doing a full wash, just snow foaming and a quick go with the pressure washer normally gets the cars looking 90% better. So if I could do that, then rinse with DI water to stop the spotting, I think it'd be good enough as regular maintenance wash.

Obviously it'd be better to properly wash regularly, but I struggle finding time, and there are 3 cars on the drive to do.

The tank pressurises itself so the flow rate is pretty good. Let's put it this way, you don't want to disconnect the hose from the tank without releasing the pressure as you will be soaked.

Only hearsay of course

Well, instead of waste too much time looking at it all, I've gone and ordered an 11 litre vessel with resin, then a Karcher compact hose that I'll use just for the DI water, and a TDS meter. After I'd done that it seemed like a good idea to order a water fed window cleaning pole to go with it, seeing as we always seem to get attacked by birds straight away after they're cleaned :x

Hopefully I'll have my new toys by the weekend :)

I bought the carbon fibre pole, very light and great to use. Was about £200, but cheaper than window cleaners anyway.

I use an open ended hose with the vessel by the way, you want to run the water over the car - not spray it on.

I have a Hozelock multi spray gun which I've used for sheeting water off in the past, it has a basic tap setting, then the variable flow rate on the back makes it really easy to get a nice sheeting action.

I've just gone for a cheap pole for now, I'm not planning on doing all the windows with it, just sorting out the odd bird attack :)

What's the poles used for ?

Waterfed pole for window cleaning. No need to dry when using the clean water.

Not bad at all. But you are halfway between civilisation and Scotland so that is about right :D

I regularly wash / rinse 3 cars, and the resin lasts me with 185 ppm about 5 months I roughly guess, so you should get about 8 months or more if it is for a single car. If you use it for window washing it will be less.

It's 3 cars, but they'll probably not get done as often as yours

This is considered a really hard water area for Yorkshire too? :o

Everything came today, had a bit of a play with it and it and it's all good so far :) I ordered the DI from Vyair, 11 litre DI vessel full of resin for £89.95 delivered.

Any chance of some pics when you get it set up :)
