35iS insurance

Depends on the many factors. There will be a cheapest quote you can obtain after a lot of searching and after that it's about deciding if that quote offers what you want/need.

I think through various post on here there’s too many variables for a ball park.

My 35iS for me and OH was £246. M40 is higher £300’s but could’ve got for £280. £280 quote had £900 excess and had charge for euro cover. £300’s one excess is circa £200 and 90 days cover euro included

As you say many factors..mine was £265 via LV with one SP30..ahem..no 5 years accident /claims history

We live far from the madding crowd..

Mine is £435.00 for us both, lots of NCB, £350 excess.

Not garaged, we're both in 30's, policy includes commuting just in case, based in Essex.

£625.00 seems high, but as said it depends on many factors and what you're getting for that money.

The main issue is if they pay out on claims when needed. I have had many cars, properties, projects etc etc insured with a variety of insurers over the years. My choice is always Direct Line, excellent cover and never any issues or drama when a claim is made. Basically I dont touch anything on gocompare etc, you are alread paying a premium to the website....

As previously said there are so many factors that influence the price dependant on risk. Mine £280 fully Comp with spouse and only £100 excess.
Full no claims, doing under 9K social and business mileage reduces the cost as does having various advanced driving certificates. What is good value for you is different to what is good value for others. Just shop around for quotes and don't depend on comparison sites or be afraid to ask for discounts based on your circumstances.

The MoT record of my mileage has put it a little over the 10,000 insured, so I rang my insurer to increase it.

"Would 13,000 be enough, sir?" was the response.
"Yep."
"Fine, sir. That will reduce your premium by £29" was the reply. [Emphasis added.]

I kid you not.

I no longer have my Z4 but still pop in here from time to time as I still have a great appreciation for these cars (and insurance is insurance). This may help others.

My M2 Competition renewal was due 11 November 2021. Mid October thought I'd take a look at what's coming via a web comparison site.
£370 - pretty good I thought, lower than last year by £50. I'll leave it and see if it comes down any more (big mistake).

Postal renewal came through end of October- £475: bug*er, but I've still got my £370 deal to go back to.... Wrong.

Checked the website again and the £370 had become £410. Not as good as £370, but certainly better than £475. So I renewed at £410. All conditions on last year's policy carried forward, nothing has changed. Already on max no claims.

Interestingly this was all with my existing insurer - LVE. Renewing early via the comparison site saved me £65, and LVE recognised me and gave me an existing customer discount :).

Lesson 1, Renew as early as possible via a comparison website.
Lesson 2, Don't take your request to renew at face value.
Lesson 3, Never, Ever, tick the "automatically renew" box on your policy. They'll have your pants down.

Don't know your personal circs Busterboo but from what I used to pay for my 35i your £625 seems a bit on the high side. And I've always found putting your wife on the policy brings the premium down!

You don't pay a "premium" for using a comparison website, they make their money through affiliate commission and advertising banners.

Another warning regarding returning again and again to various websites (Especially ones that involve quotes such as insurance and holidays) Most sites are controlled by algorithms which can detect your previous visits via your IP address, determine that you must be interested and automatically increase prices. An extra few quid each time. We priced holiday flights once and returning to the cheapest quote after checking out others, noticed the price had gone up by about £30. The next time by another £20. They are trying to con you into thinking availability is reducing encouraging you to take the offer. Same day visited my friends house logged onto his wi fi and checked the same holiday and it was back at the original price.

Thats worth remembering!

I suppose do research then logon with the phone as a hotspot when you decide to buy?

If indeed insurers are sneaky enough to track your visits and raise prices if you appear 'keen', I'd look at cookies before i worried about IPs / VPNs. Delete your cookies and / or use a different browser. Much more likely to be the culprit.
VPN tracking might be useful to sites that try to enforce geolocation (like BBC iPlayer) but seems like it would be way too blunt an instrument in this context.
My own experience of insurance price comparison sites has been that I've been given the chance to save quotes...and doing so has kept those prices valid. Though it's also widely reported that prices tend to be keener around 21days before renewal date so I'm not sure I'd start suspecting foul play just because prices rise a little as you get closer to renewal.
