35iS DCT hacks?

The DCT + adaptive suspension is quite a complex mechanism to learn. One trick/hack goes like this:

You're in Sport + S, gearstick to the left, at speed in 7th, coming to a roundabout. As you brake, you use the paddle to change down manually - 6th, 5th, 4th. This, however, disables the timed 'S' up-changes. So, as you enter the roundabout, you flick the gearstick to the right and immediately back to the left, thus re-enabling the up-changes as you accelerate away from the roundabout. The outcome is rapid deceleration, followed by rapid and balanced acceleration, all the while keeping the adaptive suspension in its tightest setting.

Does anyone have similar hacks?

Not sure that counts as a hack

The adaptive suspension is unaffected by the S mode of the gearbox, only by the actual driving mode selections of Normal/Sport/Sport+. The S mode of the gearbox is exactly that, a gearbox mode which holds gears longer and changes faster.

Also I don't understand why you would want to manually change down before a roundabout, the gearbox is capable of skipping gears when left in automatic. If you aim is complete gearbox control and pace over the roundabout then just leaving it in manual mode and upshifting yourself will accomplish this.

The manual gear change-down during braking increases deceleration: 'gear braking'.

That said, I was looking for other ideas, not an argument. So, don't bother to reply.

I wish there was a way to have Sport engine + steering but comfort suspension.

Is there any details of exactly what does what? Is Sport+ just Sport without DSC?

Not that I'm aware. I think it's possible but would require vehicle coding. Some people have had success doing things like adding drive logic to the E89 DCT so I would expect it to be possible to add the customisation of driving modes but nobody has done it yet.

There's some good information on what the modes do here: https://e89.zpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10379457&postcount=5

Car will gear brake itself in Sport+ mode

If waving your gearstick around makes you happy then don't let me stop you :driving:

Interesting! So there's no way to have Sport+ with DTC? Can't tell if it's disabling DSC AND DTC or just DSC? Will have a play this weekend

And brake more if you over-ride it manually. Now, please don't reply to my posts.

OK not a problem, wouldn't want to upset you.

Busterboo - this is a public forum, you can’t just kick off when someone says something you don’t want to hear

You can map the DCT box..
How? By doing the accelerator re-set and the box then 'learning' your driving preferences?

Or is there a direct software intervention?

As far as I'm aware you can only write different BMW maps onto the DCT. Other standard automatic boxes have software such as xHP which can fully customise the operation. I'm not certain if it works on the automatic transmission in the Z4 though.

I have the BMW 135i DCT software on my car as it gives a lower (3500) launch control RPM. The shifts are supposed to be quicker but I honestly cannot tell.

There is also the option of flashing the BMW M3 GTS software to the Z4 DCT but this requires replacing the gear selector. The bonus of this change is that you also get the adjustable drive logic shift settings so you can select how fast the car shifts.
