35iS cost of oil change

Having just got my 35iS I can see on the variable servicing it was serviced 8K ago at 20K ... and that was it's only service to date.

I am keen to get another oil change in before the next service which is showing as due in 9K.

These extended intervals are not unknown to me as my 330D went to 18K before it's first service - but I am less comfortable with it on the 35iS.

What are peoples views on doing it and the cost from a dealer or indy ?
 
It's either up to the millage or every two years whatever comes first. So depending on when it was last serviced you might not be waiting the 9k.

I assume it doesn't have the service pack? Price of servicing seems to vary quite significantly. It'll more than likely be £350 ish for an oil change.
 
Whether diesel or petrol i would change oil & filter every 8000 miles or 12 months whichever came around first , even if mileage was a few thousand as the car may have done many more cold starts & through winter condensation(moisture) can form inside engine .
£80 /£140 should cover a interim oil/filter change at decent indy :thumbsup:
 
Ouch ! Dearer than I thought - but I guess it takes a lot of oil and nothing at BMW is cheap !

I will check when it is 2 years from the last service and see if it is worth doing it. No point if my 9K service interval becomes somewhat less due to the age of the car.

Oil change should nowhere near £350. Even ///M owners only have to pay £200 with ///M Tax included from main stealer.
 
BMW are more than comfortable that the service intervals are adequate for there cars. Oil technology now has moved on,long life oil now, we have plant in power station running continually for years due to the design & oil. wasting your money IMO
 
I've just booked in my M for an oil service and brake fluid change for £205 at a main dealer. I'd be surprised if the 35iS is any more than that? Use main dealer discount as a basis to beat your local dealer down.
 
If your going to get it done. Get them to price match Indy. Have done so on many occasions with success :thumbsup:
 
I priced oil change at my local dealer for my M5

£295..

Seeing that the castrol TWS and OEM oil filter can be bought for around £100 I thought the £195 for 30 mins work was a bit excessive..

What oil does the 35is take ?

My local dealer is quoting for an E46 M3 £169 for an oil service only but then an Inspection 1 is £699 and Insp 2 £899 :o

I don't quite get how they can charge £169 for an M3 and £225 for an E89 2.0 for an oil change only :? or is the E89 more complicated :roll:

I reckon it's because the E89 is a "new" or "current" model Tim. They are discounting the older cars to try and keep them in the dealer network. My quote was £156 for the oil service and £50-odd for the brake fluid change. Not bad I thought considering the oil will cost about £90.

I was looking on my local dealers website as they used to advertise value servicing for cars over 4 years old but seems to have gone now :|

Why not just buy the oil yourself and get a local garage to do the change. Takes me about 10 minute once on a ramp.
2 x 5l Mobile I = £80 and the second bottle goes towards next change. Filter £8.

Nothing special, they are just cars!

I change at 10k, still looks like I'm throwing good money away when I see it drain away and looks almost like the stuff going in.
Might go to 15k.

Cheers mate , only had 4 weeks 250 miles so very much Alfa honeymoon period :oops: love the looks & cabin , bit more oooomph would be nice but i knew that when i bought it . Alfa forum a bit depressing as 9 out of 10 topics are problem's & its hard not to become paranoid so i only flirt around on a casual basis

Well, you need to view things in context Mr Wilks. There are loads more posts on the AO site despite there being far fewer Alfas than almost any other mark and Alfa drivers do like to talk about their cars. They are also more prepared to get their own hands oily so always have lots of questions.

I bought my Brera new eight years ago and it is the first car I have ever kept more than three years and the only real problem I have had with it is broken springs.

As you say, the 2.2 isn't the fastest, maybe you should have gone for the 3.2 V6, but then if you go too fast it is more difficult for people to admire it, which they will.

I find BMW ownership very different to Alfa ownership on so many levels but love both cars.
