I would be putting injectors 1-3 in as well as a cam cover gasket set.

Probably a set of ;lugs too depending on how long they have been in.
Hi mate, thanks for the response

I have ordered 3 new Index 12 injectors, as well as 6 new spark plugs.
I am thinking of proceeding in the following order:

Clean spark plug wells
Replace spark plugs
Install new injectors
Run the car for a week or so, after which I will inspect the spark plugs again. I will do the valve cover sometime shortly in the future

Sound sensible?

Yea,

Im sure thats the only way that oil can get into the plug holes though,so im thinking your delaying the inevitable. There about £65 for a gasket set.

Yeah you are right, I will do the injectors first. Then do the valve gasket a week later. I will update this thread as I go along :)

Update:

So this morning I inspected the valve cover / gasket, particularly around cylinder 3 as that had the most oil leakage. Some one tell me this is not a crack and I am seeing things lol

Edit: Best price I have had for a new valve cover so far is £360, anyone aware of any cheaper sources?

Oh Jesus

What’s gone on there!!

That’s definitely looks like a crack to me,

Funnily enough I have seen an issue very similar to that on a 335i I used to look after a couple of years ago

Someone had cracked the cam cover trying to prize off the upper engine cover bizarrely.

I replaced the cam cover and all good, but like you say it was around £500 all in at the time

Has that been broken by something internally hitting it ?

The more I look at the pic the more it seems that the damage has come from the inside ?

Yep, that's a crack unfortunately. Gotta love plastic covers... :headbang:
Cracked rocker cover on N54 is very common (apparently). Here's mine from a couple of months ago

I was wondering why there were aftermarket covers being offered, now I know why. You can get them for around $110, new gasket included. No idea about the quality but it sure is cheaper than original BMW:

Oops missed this. It seems to be common on the N54, the valve cover cracking / the gasket leaking. Seems to be very brittle. I have removed the valve cover, and the internals seem fine, just the cover was cracked somehow.

Seems to be all too common, almost £400 for a plastic cover is a bit of a joke really too.
Interesting that yours seems to be cracked in the exact same space?

The aftermarket ones have terrible reviews mostly, this is not a job you want to do twice, thus I have ordered the BMW Genuine part.

My oh my, the valve cover change sure was intensive, so many things had to be moved. Any how the car now has now had the following done:

6 x Bosch OE Spark Plugs
6 x Eldor OE Ignition Coils
3 x Index 12 Version 2 Injectors
1 x New Valve Cover / Gasket / Screws

I have just finished wiring everything up, I am going to double check all the wiring around the ignition in the morning, and then code in the new injectors. Fingers crossed she is all good when she starts up :)

OBD Cable is dead, so waiting on a new one so I can code the injectors and start her up. Everything else has been done and is ready :driving:
