Indeed, I work in IT.. 99% of the time it’s user error. I can imagine something similar for cars

All in all, my 35is has been reliable. In a little over 2 1/2 years of ownership, it never left me stranded. Other than driver error.Geddin said:Nah I’m not afraid of a bill. Just don’t want to be constantly dealing with issues
Turning it off and on again rarely works with car faults, though, IME.Geddin said:Indeed, I work in IT.. 99% of the time it’s user error. I can imagine something similar for cars
Any car can be expensive to repair. I have had cars far cheaper and less complex than a 35is which have cost considerably more in garage bills. I am a pensioner and not a rich one but if I went back to an e89, the 35is would be my only choice.Marcoose said:Nanu said:Had a 35is for 7 years from being a demo with a couple of hundred miles to 45K.
Apart from the usual servicing, the only issue I had was 3 of the 6 fuel injectors needed changing.
A chum has a saying, ‘anecdote isn’t the plural of data.’ Your data point is important. But the stories told here, assuming they’re all true, are the other data points.
I’m with B21. If you don’t have a couple of grand for unexpected repairs, a 35i or 35is isn’t for you. There are other e89s, though.
I think going by all the positive posts including yours it only makes me more certain that most of the things you hear are just scare mongering. The same thing happens with the Z4M unfortunately.matsmith749 said:I've had 2x 35is (same engine as the 35i - slightly more tuned) & both have been impeccable.
Slight gremlins from time to time, but nothing bad & no engine / drivetrain problems at all.
