35i oil usage.

Hi chaps. My 35i has just told me I need to put a litre of engine oil in. What is normal oil usage of this engine chaps ? Are there any common faults where these engines use more oil ??

If I remember correctly mine had one 1ltr top up in three years but it was a freebie from bmw when still in warranty :)
Think this is fairly common
 
10 Months of ownership, 8000 miles covered. Serviced at 43k, now at 51k and not a drop of oil is needed. Will be serviced soon :)
 
Mine tends to ask for a litre of oil, and then not long after it tells me it needs an oil service too.. It's done that twice now so I'm assuming that's just how it is..
 
Mine's on condition based servicing and something similar to djstan.

Message came up for 1litre oil top up, 3 months prior to Oil Service due.
 
3 years and 50,000 miles, not a single drop of oil needed outside of regular services. Stays at max on the gauge between services too.
 
Mine needed a top-up before 10,000 miles or so (think it was about half a litre) but its not asked for anything since then and is routinely serviced at its 2 year or condition based intervals so I put that initial top-up down to running in.
