35i mapped by Celtic Tuning in Cornwall

Well,
I popped down to Celtic Tuning in Cornwall yesterday and spent a pair of hours in there immaculate high tech facility, two sound-proofed booths with the latest rolling road dynos, CCTV to watch them work on your car, free coffee and good company, combined with tech advice for free.
I arrived with a car producing 312BHP and left with 366BHP, but way more importantly than BHP (as we all know) I now have nearly 400lb/ft torque from 2000 rpm.
After the procedure i test drove the car (they don't charge you a penny if your not happy) and the difference in power delivery and the 'kick in the back' as you accelerate is phenomenal to say the least.
The car is transformed performance wise, in sport (DCT) you are over 100mph in seconds and you can feel the kick on every gear change right up to 7th.
Very happy indeed.

£295.00 BARGAIN..

Hello whilst the results are very good they seem to fall short of their claim of a 80bhp increase vs your documented 54 bhp increase?

Not poo pooing it just an observation...although your torque figure seems higher

I feel you and I should bump into eachother at some point and find out whether Evolve or Celtic have the stronger 360ish bhp :D

Would be interesting to put someone with an MHD map in the mix. The stage 1+ MHD map is 390-400bhp so should pull a good gap on the garage mapped cars.

Totally agree, looking at MHD's website their Stage 1 map also quotes 360bhp. Interestingly torque is where all three seem to be a little bit different, MHD say 520nm for Stage 1, mcbutler states roughly 540nm from 2000rpm and my Evolve map did 550nm in an almost perfectly flat line but higher up the range from 3000-4500rpm.

I’ve been in Jollyjoiners 360bhp odd mapped 35i and it’s ballistic, wipes the floor with a stock 35is, I was shocked just how much that ‘mild’ tune gives....so much torque, pulls like a freight train.... :o

Torque is definitely the biggest improvement, in normal driving going from first to third to sixth is no problem at all. We were in Wales a few weeks ago for the bmw club's weekend which gave rise to a bit of to-and-froing with an M2. Very similar power and weight but even without the DCT the Z4 could close up to him in each gear.

(Thoroughly recommend checking out the Welsh weekend by the way)

While you’re on Player, would mind popping me a list of the mods you’ve done to yours sometime please? Either on here or by PM, getting itchy to start some modding. :driving:

For sure mate, sent a detailed write up to a few that were also interested after Wales, I'll copy/paste it and send it right over

Top man sir.... very much appreciated, I’ll let you know how things go as bits get done.  :driving:

Celtic Tuning came to my house and remapped my car in June. Very happy with the result. It's a very quick car now but still retains its driveability. Incredible gains for so little outlay. Exhaust seems louder too! :)

Has anyone on here used Celtic and had any gearbox trouble? I’ve been thinking for a while about re map , spoken to smartbear about it and who he recommended sounds great, but it means a trip up the road , what’s put me off of Celtic coming to my home is a few bad reviews about gearbox problems

I thought the General view was the dct box can handle 400 bhp ok. Providing you remap rather than fit a tuning box. I can see an argument that increasing boost, load etc puts additional pressure on worn parts, turbos, injectors, coil packs, fuel pumps perhaps.

Celtic (pronounced Keltic) give a 12 month guarantee against any remap related problems and I know two people who have claimed successfully. In view of this i find it odd that anyone moans about a related (prove it) fault with there gearbox.
In addition all Celtic maps are done within tolerance of stock parts ability to handle it.
Whilst more BHP will put an extra load on the DCT, it is torque that really loads it up, the DCT can handle 400Bhp+

Only if you want to meet on a private road or track, no way am I letting it loose on a public road, bearing in mind that getting caught exceeding 100mph can result in permanent seizure of your vehicle and arrest. I was informed of this on the Tolpuddle Bypass after getting stopped in my C63 at 03:00 a few years back, lucky to get away with that and only get a ticket..
