Is it possible to do a straight swap for the 35i brakes In to a 2004 e85 , or does someone sell an adaptor plate allow the Caliper fitment among with the bigger 348mm discs ? Also can anything be done with the rear std brakes while keeping the handbrake working.
Was going CSL route up front but cost is prohibitive , E46 rears don’t seem to fit so going that route with 996 callipers is also out 🤬
Any help greatly appreciated tia
Dan

Are the 35i brakes that much bigger…?

I don’t think you can do anything with the rears easily.

You can use CSL discs with the M Performance calipers - https://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=1075669

Saw that kit looks amazing but 2nd hand bits rare and kit new is £1800 + shipping as far as I can find

I was thinking Porsche brakes for the front on mine. But didn’t want to create too much front brake bias in the car. That is a viable option as it’s more readily available and should come in under £1k including all accessories which you’ll need to upgrade. Take a look at e46 and e39 threads (interchangeable hardware with the e85).

Really? I picked up my calipers for £200 ish second hand.

Loads on eBay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-2016-3-4-Series-F30-F31-F32-F33-M-Sport-Blue-Brake-Calipers-340-FRONTS/333239554562?hash=item4d96a01202:g:GK4AAOSwFC1c98B5

What put me off was that it’s a well-travelled route so the calipers aren’t cheap, and you need adaptors on top (£100).

Cheers I’ll look at the f30 callipers do they need a adaptor or bolt straight on , I didn’t even think about them was told use the e90s, what size rotor are you using std m3 or the csl.

I did the csl discs on my e46 fronts, amazing difference!
Paid £250 Porsche Boxster s calipers
Paid £100 Adapters
Paid £40 Steel brake lines BMW to Porsche
Paid £299 For genuine BMW CSL discs from Germany

Which for me was Not too pricey for a Nice front setup

Similar setup as above

Boxster s callipers
Creative motorsport brackets
Steel lines
EBC pads
E46m3csl discs (£300 off eBay from BMW direct)

My rear upgrade was just to 3.0 Z4 spec with updated pads

Both look amazing, anyone else done the F30 upgrade ? What parts are needed other than callipers ?
1. Need a adaptor ?
2. Brake lines ?
3. What size disc , poss the csl was told but wasn’t 100% sure so need clarification before buying all the above.. any one had Porsche and F30 to compare the 2

I'm still in the middle of fitting it.

No adaptors needed. You'll need new hoses - I wasn't happy with the F30 ones so got some custom ones made up.

I'm using CSL discs.

Was looking at the wezmoto brake lines? Or where makes custom brake lines , do you plan on upgrading your stock master cylinder if so what do you plan/recommend? Cheers for all your assistance

Hey mate, saw your pistons post. What did you need other than the hel hoses? What size hub spacer you end up with? :)

Rare '15 Plate E85 Z4 3.0i SMG

25mm spacers - I want to use less but shape of the 108s makes this difficult with the caliper clearance.

Hose spec:

Custom Brake Hose
Fitting One Fixed Female - M10 x 1.00
Fitting One Angle Straight
Fitting Two Swivel Male - M10 x 1.00
Fitting Two Angle Straight
Support One Rubber Grommet
Length 55cm

25! wow! :o
Do you not get rubbing? I've had M spec tyres on my front and that gave me issues! So surprising this doesn't?

Guys, so in here: https://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=1075669 guy cannot pair f30 pads with csl 345 disc, because:
Next up is E46 CSL disc 345x28mm. Outer edge is perfect, but the CSL rotor diameter is larger simply due to the rotor hat being larger, on the inner edge the pad material makes contact with the rotor hat, again the pad would need to be shaved down.

But in the topic below guy did it:

What am I missing?
