35i brakes on a 30

I have these callipers and disks off a 35 to fit to my 30. I understand that I won’t get a huge amount of extra stopping power fitting them but I guess I won’t get brake fade as quickly as before? (I noticed the beginnings of some brake fading after lots of twisting and turning in Spanish sierras a few years ago.

If nothing else once cleaned up and painted they will look nicer than the current ones when fitted 🤣

Question is: are there any downsides to fitting them I should be aware of??

Thanks for any pointers.

If you have all the bits they should fit ok…theoretically you should recode the DSC but most people seem happy enough.

We did this on PeeblesZ4 20i

Not really tbh, the only issue to check would be if the servo is up to the bigger calipers but as B21 has done this mod I'd assume all is well as is.

Hi

Did this conversion last month and braking seems more sure footed, plus of course it makes it look so much better........... now to do the rears !!!!!

Looks good. I’ll be starting the refurb on mine soon. I wonder if there are any kits to change the seals etc?

I would think that a brake system developed for a car with significantly higher power/performance than your model would give you a lot better stopping power than your OEM fit.
I uprated my 35i with DBA disc brakes and EBC redstuff pads - the difference is incredible and the pads are almost dust free as they are ceramic based. Been on the car for 10k miles with no excess disc wear or anything else.
The DBA discs use an internal structure called a 'kangaroo paw' it gives the disc a little more mass but a lot more surface area inside the vented space for better cooliing - the double slot looks excellent as well.
I was going for drilled but general consensus is that drill holes are mrore for show than function and if not countersunk can lead to cracking (probably more on track use) - loads of info on this via youtube.
