...want to know how the z4 compares
It's much better :D

I do like the S2000 but high insurance and a lack of (at the time) any kind of stability control put me off. There have been a fair few S2000 owners upgrading to a Z4 on here.

Hi and welcome.

TBH i dont think the Z can match the s2000 for reliability but then again not much else can either, but dont let that put you off, the Z has so much more to offer especially the coupe. :poke:

Hello and welcome, Coupe out of the two for me anyday. I looked at the S2000 it is an exclusive car, but with only a pram top available.. no question. Plus the coupe looks much nicer!

how about servicing costs? are they high with it being a bmw? or can independant garages (which i would take mine to) be a lot cheaper?

IIRC - Honda service intervals are 9,000 miles? BMW are c.14k-16k... which is longer, so you'll need less servicing.

Costs for the "Inspection 2" service which is usually the most expensive ranges from £300-£600. Not sure how this compares with the Honda. Oil service will be c.£100-£150.

Independent garages are usually cheaper....

The S2000 is a great car and is a blast. Yes it's really reliable and very cheap to service. However the Z4 is not an unreliable car and independents will still be more than a Honda main dealer but the extra torque is the phenomenal and worth every penny. Take one for a test drive and see for yourself

razorsharp192, welcome to the forum...
As others have mentioned you really need to go for a test drive. If you like it the Zed it is a much better all around car suitable for everyday driving and long trips.

It has a cam chain - I have been advised that they are good for at least 150 k. One of my reasons for buying the 3.00 se, but not the only one.

Yes indeed a chain. A good reason for buying a BMW.

As WLH had said, get out for a test drive in one.... Your Honda will be gone soon after

Ive had both.

The differences are...
The S2k feels more nimble and small, the gear change is easier and the cabin is much snugger. The back end is a lot more snappy and you feel more at one with the car.

The Z4 is a much better day to day car. You will instantly feel like your in a beefier car with bundles of low down torque. The gearchange will feel stiff and agricultural but you do get used to it. Its an altogether safer car with more progressive limits and more grip before it reaches there than the s2k. The interiors also wear a LOT better in the BMW than the honda's.

30mpg is very easy, i can see 40mpg on long runs and even around 47 on french motorways. BMW indies are as cheap as any other manufacturer really and there arent many mojor expenses to talk about.

Ive not looked back at all.
