326M refurb powder coat black cost

"So. Looking at whether to do the conversion to black in the coming month or so and price wise I have been quoted around the £330 to £400 mark for x4 wheels. Two of the Wheels have some minor kerb scuffs and 2 are fine. These prices seem a bit steep to me so was hoping with the wisdom of the forum members who may have used a reputable company to do their wheels at some point in the recent past... Is this the going rate or can I get a better deal?

Thoughts and recommendations welcome. :poke:

Prepared to drop the wheels off at a distance up to around 20 or 30 miles from Heathrow when the time comes...

Sounds about right if tyres off, put back on / re-balancing etc. I can recommend Primo Alloys in Guildford. Ask for Kevin

Just done their on line quote and they come in at the sharp end of the price, so sounds worthy of a road trip next month

Most places would be £20 4 tyres off / £40 4 tyres on with balance , its still not cheap but its Southern prices i guess
If you get it done for £300 cash id say fair dos , any more & it sounds a lot of £ to me but maybe not to others :?

Come on then Mr Wilks.. Will you reveal the prices you pay? I'm sure you have a team on speed dial and get cracking prices for the amount you get done.

I'm used to southern prices... Still don't like giving it away, it's called VFM and I'm happy if I think I, getting FVFM :P

I'm thinking £75 a corner is VFM though

The guy i use is in Stockport , he will do you a same day turnaround , arrive 9am / wheels off - tyres off - chemical strip - powdercoat - tyres on - balance ( x 4 ) wheels back on - drive away 4pm , , , he's around £50 a wheel depending on choice of finish  but he's way north of Heathrow :P

Approximately 3 hours 9 minutes and 195 miles North

Considered Plastidipping as a cheap, reversible first option?
Did mine for less than the cost of a good night out, a dodgy kebab and a dodgier minicab ride home! :D
No need to remove and re-mount tyres and balancing kerfuffle, just mask off if required. I didnt mask and just peeled off the overspray. :driving:

They look good, just spent the last half hour reading up on it... Well within my capability, just finding the time to give it a go... Mmm... Reverts back very easily if and when you want to.

Thanks!
Thems me winter wheels. Was going to get the tatty 108's refurbed when they go back on after winter but I'm going to dip those too now. Will go for gunmetal with a final coat of metalizer to replicate the original colour.

Post up ur results if u decide to go for dipping....
Tip: i bought 5 rattle cans, 1 for each wheel plus 1 spare and did actually use a little bit of the 5th can after 4 coats each wheel. Also, first coat should be really thin/sparse/quick as it acts as a sort of adhesion anchor for subsequent coats. Spend a good couple of hours cleaning inside and out too when prepping to spray.
