I've just been thinking, when the damaged wheels have been examined how did they decide what caused the crack? Its all well and good saying fatigue or mechanical impact - but I will lay Lincoln odds that they have have not done a proper engineering /metallurgy test at a dealership - Ie looking for inclusions or voids. These things are Die Cast and from past experience albeit many years ago in that industry, cracks and flaws can and do occur. Casting temperatures slag inclusions amongst other things can effect the final product Then of course there is the subsequent heat treatment process to consider.
Visual inspection is only a part of determining the cause of fracture. The true reason will require a proper investigation.
